Since i think that i heard that the new usb 2.0 units will be fully compatible with OSX, which means it can write and read, i thought that the people who use OSX might like an icon for their OSX dock, since the icons that come with NSM are way to small for the dock, because it enlarges it and looks really pixelated, i thought that in my boredom, i would make them an icon.......since nsm wont work on mac, they can just use this for ndbm

I made an icon for my IconBar (similar to the Dock). Edit: actually, it's called StarterBar.

Here's the icon

And here's a screenshot of it in use

i made an icon like yours, but i thought i'd customize it a little bit by adding the name in the middle, i tried making the white transparent, it looked terribe against my desktop background, so i stayed with the white instead. i use objectdock, you can download themes for it from wincustomize.com

I use a command-line. It's alot better than that graphical widget you're using

To each his own. Also, since you noticed that what he's running can't be windows, then why do you recommend a windows utility?

That's one busy desktop you've got there. :) Judging by that bottom panel it looks like Gnome meets OSX. (With the Aqua theme no less) Coincidentally, what is that weather program you have running. I haven't seen it before. I usually just use the regular Gnome weather applet but that certainly looks spiffy. :)

I guess i was lookin at the Neuros icon for the HD on your desktop, not theonein the sys tray, but hey, they's all good!

Anyone know if anyone on the board has designed a Neuros vinyl sticker? I was thinking of designing one with my frequency on it.

Hehe, thanks!!

Yes, it's Fedora Core 1 running Gnome 2.4.

The desk toys are gDesklets, which are implemented entirely in Python.
The 'dock' like bar is actually called StarterBar and it's entirely customizable, even resizeable. It can also be oriented horizontally or vertically.

Edit: Oh, and I got the background from misanthropia.net!

Multi Gnome Terminal.

Their page is incredibly slow for me, so you might just try Google/linux.

It was me.

I was trying to figure out why this thread showed up earlier in the Active Topics with "I find llamas amazing" as the last user to post, but the the last post wasn't from him...

While troubleshooting, I posted and then deleted a message containing "test" to see if there was somehow a 2nd page that was inaccessible...

It turns out he edited the 3rd post and doing so put him as the last to post.

Actually to come to the original topic,

I saw your Icons and thought, gosh, I did better than that (no offense ;) ) and wanted to share mine with the community, too. So I upped them.
I got four different ones:
http://www.uni-weimar.de/~halibran/imgs/neurost.png
http://www.uni-weimar.de/~halibran/imgs/neurostnt.png
http://www.uni-weimar.de/~halibran/imgs/neurosw.png
http://www.uni-weimar.de/~halibran/imgs/neuroswnt.png

t is for transparent, nt is for no text in it, w is for white (non transparent).
When I say white it means only inside of the outer circle, outside all are transparent.
Hope you like them!

I will see what I can do for you, maybe I will have some time during the next days. It would be helpful if you could give a link to such an 3D-Icon, so I can see what you meant!

Keep it up, and good luck by learning Photoshop ... Actually, I can do this 3D-Icons and then I will sent you the results and the source and you have to try to make the source look like my results (: ...
Just a thought!

Wow, nice icons!

I tried to do the smooth edges, but didn't have much success.

I like your 3d-ish icons, too, except that the ligh source seems to be directly above rather than angled...

Yeah, I know what you mean, but actually the position of the light source didn't change the appearance, or changed it very badly because it's just a too low resolution. It was a small job though, so I propably could do better if I spend more time. If a few people insist, I will do, but until then it should be O.K. for now ...

Have a vote, guys ...

I'm going to try a rendered icon in either Caligary trueSpace or Blender3D.

I know trueSpace better, but I've been meaning to figure out Blender... This seems like a good exercise.
