Message:
Well, one day into 2.21 and my neuros locked up. I forced a shut down and restarted a few moments later. The status bar says my files are still there, but the DB must have gotten nuked cause I can't play anything...
So I formatted the NAND
Upon restart I receive the error 0x4840. I'm told to hold play to restart, which I do. Upon restart I receive the error 0x4840. I'm told to hold play to restart, which I do. (sorry, I'm trying to keep a sense of humor about this)
So I'm stuck in this loop.

Message: Are you able to boot to the format menu and format the NAND again (also revive bad blocks).
If that doesn't work assuming you have USB 2.0, plug it in without the player and try to resync.

No dice with the NAND or blocks. I have the 1st gen USB 1 unit, so no syncing, either.

Message: I just had this same problem after noticing that NDBM would no longer open the Neuros. I have a USB 2.0 unit, so I'll try that suggestion and post my results.

Message: It's working again! Here's what I did to fix it.
1. Use Explorer or Finder to delte "ndbm," "woid_db," and "System Volume Information" (not sure if you'll see that third one or if it even matters).
2. Launched NDBM and rebuilt the database.
3. Disconnect from computer and boot up.
4. And for good measure, I reformatted the NAND.
I did this with the brain removed and using only the HD, but I don't see why this wouldn't also work using USB 1.1, except much slower.

Message: FYI: This will not work on the USB 1.1 Units because they plug into the USB on the BRAIN not the HD so when you take out the brain the HD is useless except to charge

404 File Not Found? Whew, looks like DI still reads the RFCs.

Message: i get the 0x4840 error too on my usb1.1 model.
when i reboot it, it never gets to the point where my computer recognizes the drive, so i can't get in to delete the files.

If that doesn't work, you can try formatting your HD by going through the same process, but chooseng "HD" instead of "NAND" at the first menu.
