Subject: Wish Maybe it's possible to have a 'code' or a Xi-menu button that would shut the screen off. Since a lot of people don't look at their screens while listening (pocket/lap/bag/working) this could save battery life.

Reply author: linuxmaier i think that'd be cool, but i can't see myself using it often
Reply author: Sottilde I honestly doubt this uses much power - think of the good old TI-83s that run off 4 AAs for years. I doubt the LCD uses an amount of power that would warrant adding this feature. After all, if it did, you'd likely see it in other players
Reply author: Zithromax I've never had my Ti-83 run on 4 AAA's for "years". It lasts more like a year depending on usage. Speaking of calculators, does anyone know how long the batteries last in the TI-89?
Reply author: Derek depending on the use about a year. But for my different equations class about 4 days
Reply author: Zithromax Oh, don't say that; I will be in differential equations next semester.
Reply author: Sottilde Hrmm, mine lasted a long time... maybe not "years" per se but rather a year and a half or so. I kind of killed it by doing a lot of 3d graphing, though... which destroys the battery :P Drains real fast.
Reply author: MadDogPlatinum LCDs draw a miniscule amount of current- nA per square cm. If you want to save battery life, limit the backlight. Those can be a REAL power hog.
