feature request - quickbuttons 1-5 do a pos-seek

hy,

after the hd filebrowser is in the firmware, theres one last issue open i'd love to see in the neuros. i don't use the functionality of the quickbuttons (the buttons 1-5 on the left side of the neuros) AT ALL, so i'd like them to seek the current playposition in the file as follows:
(consider a dj mix of 60 minutes playtime)

back button: start from beginning (00:00)
quickbutton 1 - 1/6 of length = 10:00
quickbutton 2 - 2/6 of length = 20:00
quickbutton 3 - 3/6 of length = 30:00
quickbutton 4 - 4/6 of length = 40:00
quickbutton 5 - 5/6 of length = 50:00

i guess that many people use the quickbuttons, so you might just make this optional via a settings-menu entry.

the reason i'd like to have this feature is that i play long tracks (60mins and way longer) most of the time, and rarely hear the end of the tracks - way to university 30 minutes, shopping 20 minutes, etc... a fast-forward-skip via the quickbuttons would be awesome!

The appropriate place for feature requests is in BugZilla.

I'm kind of confused though... The functionality you want is already built into the Presets (what you call quickbuttons). Have you ever tried them?
Try holding one of the preset buttons in the middle of a track to assign to that exact position (pause if you want to be ultra-precise) and skip to the next track, then press and release the preset button you just assigned to go back to the exact time in the song you preset.

You could even accomplish what you want with the automatic resume on power-up if you power-down in the middle of a track.

That was apparent. I was pointing out existing functionality that might offer the same or a similar result. I also pointed out the BugZilla system if my answer did not suffice.

I believe the point of that feature would be the ability to more quickly go to a spot on an audio file without having to hold down the ffwd button.

That was not at all apparent in your reply. The suggestion you gave would not help you quickly go through a file you have not already preset. I have often lost presets just by adding or removing tracks from the Neuros. The preset is shifted onto another track. His suggestion would help make that not such an annoyance when you have to ffwd through 1 and 1/2 hours of audio.

I don't really see how you can say it was apparent when you're describing something totally different from what we are talking about. He does not want the presets to go to a set place in one song. He wants them to go a certain percent through any song he may be listening to at the time.

sorry that's not what i was asking for. auto-resume is fine, i'm glad it exists, but nevertheless it works only with the current track playing.
the preset thing you described doesn't help me either, i want a "fast-seek" in an possible file, not just the ones i "presetted" before.

Unfortunately, there is a limited number of votes people are allowed and I think they are being used for the more robust features like lossless files support (FLAC, etc).

Procrastination is the key to flexibility.

That's probably unfortunate because I bet it would be 10 times easier to implement the faster seek option than it would be to add a codec.
