Only the backlight comes on!

Subject: Only the backlight comes on! I cannot turn on my device. Just purchased the 30GB. I have charged it for 8 hours. I have tried to turn it on. It is not working. I get the backlight on. When i press the play button the light turns off and i get nothing. Am I not doing something! Help me please!!!!

Mine (four days old) was the same way. I poked around on this forum and read about bending the connector pins forward- I did this several times and the Neuros works perfectly now. Search for "connector pins" and you should find it. Be careful though, if you bust them off it's not my fault!

Also, try making sure the lock switch is in the down position. That can make the light come on while you hold the button, but not let you turn it on, or so it seems from here.
You might also try holding the button in a bit longer. If you're too fast, it won't come on.
Failing that, call support. They'll take care of you.
