2.28 Firmware Printed from: Neuros Forums Topic: Topic author: keebler
Subject: 2.28 Firmware Yesterday I decided to test out the 2.28 beta firmware. Everything seemed fine yesterday, but this morning the playback stopped during Neurocast and I got an error message (can't remember the code) and it said to hold play to reset. I've had some random errors throughout the day.

Reply author: guttrhead(at)gmail.com You say it started to buzz, was it more like a high pitched, full volume beep? That happened to me twice, weeks apart, while I was listening with headphones. Felt like an airhorn blowing in my ear. hasn't happened in about 2 months now and I never figured out why it did it.
Reply author: keebler Yep, it was that high pitched, airhorn beep. Maybe it was an isolated error that had nothing to do with the firmware, but it never happened before, so I guess I just placed blame on the firmware ;)
Reply author: guttrhead(at)gmail.com the times it happened to me, one was an older firmware and one was garbage branch. Both times, the player was just sitting there. Nothing moved, it just started screaming at me.
Reply author: keebler Ok, well maybe I shouldn't worry too much about that error. The one I'm particularly concerned about is after that went down, I reset the unit, and it wasn't picking up the backpack. I go to the file browser, and it was apparently showing the contents of the brain (D:/). So I reseat the brain, turn it on, same thing. I formatted the NAND, reseated the brain, turn it on, same thing. So I just turned it off and left it off for the next 20 minutes. I turn it back on, and everything's back to normal. The file browser sees C:/ as the drive again, and playback works normal.
Reply author: guttrhead(at)gmail.com Since it's working now, I wouldn't worry too much. The neuros is a buggy machine and does some weird things sometimes. Screwing around with formatting nand fixed it every time for me.
Reply author: guttrhead(at)gmail.com I loaded the newest garbage branch last night and it beeped out on me again about a minute ago. This time i was fast forwarding through a song. Apparently when you format and scan nand with this firmware, it clears the whole player. Damn.
Reply author: keebler I thought after I formatted that it had wiped the music. Then I went to File Browser and saw that it was looking at D:/. After some tinkering with reseating the brain and formatting NAND, it finally picked up the music again. Maybe that's the same problem you're having? (I realize the difference in firmware, but maybe it's the same problem hehe).
Reply author: guttrhead(at)gmail.com I reset it a bunch of times, flashed it again. No luck. Pulled the brain off and stuck it back in and its all good now. Guess it did just need a little tinkering.
