I've been working on a skin based on my Neuros, for the VLC Media Player.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

The skin is still in beta. But it's close to ready so I decided to post this teaser pic.
Like the Neuros... this skin is HUGE!

That's pretty nice work there. Now if only VLC would work right on my computer (or you can make a skin for Media Player Classic)...

Thanks J!

Sorry to hear VLC doesn't work for you, it's a nice player.
I know the devs are still working some kinks out for sure, so who knows

This is my first skin project.
Not a fan of M$ media player though, so I might try for a Winamp conversion next. Though I make no promises hehe.

Nope, I'm running XP Home here (and yes, I do like Windows Media Player 10).

Media Player Classic is an open source project based from Windows Media Player 6.4, as has been mentioned. It does an excellent job playing DVDs with the default included codec (I have S/PDIF passthrough set for Dolby EX and DTS since I have an Audigy 2 ZS, so I can't comment on that) and so that's mainly what I use it for, though I may try it with FFDShow to see if that makes a difference.

You can get more info here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

Also, the problem I have with VLC is that it just won't play. The furthest I've gotten with a DVD (which is all I'd use it for) is the main menu of The Matrix. Basically, it'll just end up locking out. I then found Media Player Classic and it's worked fine.

Nice job on the skin! I love VLC and would love to get this skin when you're done. I'm assuming you'll be sharing it???
I've subscribed to this thread and am anxiously waiting for your announcement...

BUT OF COURSE!@ Whats the point otherwise!!!
Sharing is caring =P

The only thing holding me up is that it requires the latest daily build of VLC.
I'll put it up tomorrow with a link to the build as well, just got in an oh so tired =)

AS PROMISED!

The debut of the Neuros Classic skin for the VLC Media Player.
Like I mentioned earlier, the skin uses newly implemented features of the VLC skin engine, not yet available on the public release.

Those that don't like beta's can wait till public release of the new build.
But for those as impatient as me, here's the link.
The latest VLC daily dev build::
http://vthr.via.ecp.fr/~videolan/build/win32/vlc-win32-last.zip

And here, is the link to the skin file.
Neuros Classic v1.0::
http://www.fuzzywarble.com/neuros/neurosclassic.zip

ENJOY!

Now for the apologies, hehe.
VLC is still a growing project, and some features in the skin engine are still kinda raw. So forgive the fact that the Thumb Pad requires a sorta double-click method. Also the file info text display is kinda limited, so i did what i could =P
I wanted to make it look and feel like a Neuros as much as possible
but those were the work-arounds I had to use to achieve that.
I've been working with the devs to work these kinks out, so hopefully I can come back and address it further down the line.

Other than that, I'd love to know what you guys think. And appreciate any recommendation and comments for this and possible future builds.

If time permits, I'll be making a WinAmp 5 version of it as well.
Stay tuned!

If you use another 'skinnable' media player [WinXP only] and would really really like to see a port for that, post the link to its site and we'll see what happens!

easy,

FYI:: Seems like the latest VLC win32 build added new code to the skin engine, that cause the Neuros skin to crash.
I'll make fixes to it as soon as time permits and post an update.

more later...
