Okay, this is just pissing me off lately, so I'm hell-bent to get someone to fix it. I'm using the latest GarBage firmware, which seems to do this less than the official firmware - but trust me, it happens to both.

This bloody thing accesses the HD way, way too much. It should only have to access the song you pick and a few after that, and turn off until the cache runs out. But I sometimes hear the HD spin up twice, three times, or even four times during a song. There is NO reason for this. On top of that, especially during NeuroCasting, the hard drive will stay spinning for 2+ minutes. This seems to be a bigger factor as to why battery life is shorter while broadcasting, as opposed to running the antenna..

NA - there is NO reason for this. This product has been out for years - you could greatly increase battery life by squashing this stupid bug. So why hasn't it been done? Joe?

I agree, this is definitely a reason for the low battery-life!

Does anyone else have the problem where the neuros stalls for a second if you're playing songs, shut the player down and then resume? It happenes to me everytime, like it can't sync what got cached before the shut down and what it caches after the startup, so it stutters. If I fully stop before I shutdown, i don't think this happens.

I haven't had that problem, no. It may be a good idea to do the standard NAND format, and possibly even a firmware re-flash. If you're not using GarBage firmware, I would recommend doing so (I ran official for a day and got so frustrated I HAD to load GarBage back on). If you are running GarBage's, try turning off Car Mode.

Speaking of which, GarBage needs to update soon.

Joe, you're not doing well in my eyes by ignoring this. Do you have a response?

I've done many different nand formats and many different firmware updates. same result. support said its not a big enough problem to warrant a repair and I somewhat agree, but it is annoying and I don't know why it does it.

note:
the current system only caches one song, and each time, it divides entire cache into three parts based on the other considerations, and start reading HD after palybacking data in one part. that is,turn on reading hd untill the cache runs out.

multi-song cahce maybe is implemented in futire system,to improve this feature.

I don't know how true that is. I have had many times where the HD doesn't access over many songs. Sometimes it accesses many times, and sometimes it just stays on for seemingly no reason.

It does seem to have someone fixed itself about 2 days ago. It stopped turning itself on when it was off (even with brain detached, it was draining my battery too) and NCast seems to stop freaking out the HD. But we'll see with more time.
