442 & Auto GK Video problems Printed from: Neuros Forums Topic: Topic author: pete7919
Subject: 442 & Auto GK Video problems I followed the encoding faq to a "T" and pre-ripped a couple of movies using DVD Decrypter and Auto GK. Now my 442 arrived, I transferred the files to the 442, and they won't play. I think the reason is that they are different sizes. I have a bunch of files that the video size is 608x336 and other various sizes that are not 320 x 240. I have found one file that someone else ripped that is 576x240 and that works. Do the files have to be 240 high to play? I remember reading somewhere about the file sizes, but now I can't find it.

Reply author: fdisk I have tried video clips in various sizes, and haven't had any problems. I'm running DivX encoded AVI files at 640x480, 720x480, and smaller 320x240 etc. files, and haven't had a problem with them. You might want to try running one or two of the files that won't play through the Ulead converter that came with the 442 and see if they will play after that. It is also possible that there might be a problem with the version of the codec that you used to convert the files.
Reply author: pete7919 Thanks, I will try Ulead when I get some free time.

Reply author: Doug M. I too followed the encoding faq exactly and the player just shows the busy "hour glass" type icon and never loads the video...
Reply author: pete7919 I used Ulead last night to do a batch conversion to Divx. I haven't tried all the files, but the ones I have worked perfectly. Maybe the Wiki How-to should be updated.

You will see that controlling font and adding links is very easy as well. I just added a link to a tutorial in the help section. Also, for files that are not playing, there is a thread were beta testers talked about the issue extensively, it will try to find it. Look also at the thread Non compatible MPEG-4 features. quote: How big were the files? What kind of PC are you using? Yes, we need to have much broader compatibility with file formats, PC conversion is a needless step that users should not have to go through, I will warn that it will take time though to implement all the various codecs we need for compatibility. jborn (at) neurosaudio.com Neuros Forums : http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/ © Copyright ©2002-05 Neuros Technology International, LLC all rights reserved. |
