I would like to know if the HD has a shock sensor/protection feature ?

I mean: will it turn itself off before hitting the ground if it's being dropped ?

All hard drives have some shock protection, the level depends on what brand it is. I would NEVER recommend dropping a hard drive. No hard drive that I know of can sense when it's being dropped (that would be very hard to implement). Although, most hard drives will shut down after being jolted as a safety measure.

I'm not expecting the hard drive itself to have motion sensors and I certainly appreciate your advice not to drop hard drives.

The fact is that anything on the planet may get dropped at one point or another and that will continue as long as we'll have gravity.

The shock detection systems have been already implemented in laptops. See Apple, IBM.

This is what I'm talking about.

I was wondering if the Neuros has something like that, that's all.

No, not at the moment. Sorry I answered your question incorrectly.
