I have had some problems discovering a way to convert the .asf files that the neuros mp4 recorder creates into other media files suitable for a couple of the portables that I use and other editing software that I use. I have tried some of the solutions noted in the forum but was unsucessfull and the following is offered "for what its worth" and hopefully found to be helpful.
I watch movies/tv shows, recorded, on both my Palm T/X and a PSP. On the Palm I use The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP)found at http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about It free and highly functional and reads directly the neuros asf file right off the card (with proper TCPMP codecs installed on the palm). Its is also available for almost all portables. To change the asf file into one functional the PSP I convert the asf file to mpg with TMPGEnc Version 2.524 found at http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_main.html also free and highly functional. Then I convert the mpg file to psp suitable media using 3GP Converter found at http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/ (don't let the the Japanese scare you) which is also free and highly funtional. There is a great tutorial for this software at Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/21/how-to-get-videos-and-dvds-onto-your-sony-playstation-portable/
I know it sounds like alot of work but it isn't. The conversion software works fairly quickly, its all free (which is great) and they both work in the backround allowing you to do other things on the computer. Both TMPGEnc and 3CP Converter are drag and drop.
