Hello all. This will be my first post to what seems to be a great community. As of the last 2 days, I am a proud owner of a perfectly stable, working Neuros II 256Mb / 30gb Combo. A bit of a rough start, but the 'push on the pins' trick made everything happy.

Just thought i would start out on the right foot and put something out there that all of you guys might enjoy. A shiny desktop wallpaper.

I should note that it is not quite yet perfect. I have not added in the keylock or HiSi buttons, or the proper beveling on the backpack next to the buttons, but I believe it is pretty good for a start. I will post if I make any changes / updates.

Enjoy, and thank you DI for an excellent product.

p.s. this was made in Blender. If anyone wants the model for their own personal work, please e-mail me.

Sometimes the cat needs a good killing. That's why they have nine lives.

Interesting...if i ever get any time i will model my neuros in Solidworks. Ill have to make it to scale as well, and maybe if i have time i will run a stress analysis for dropping it....

That might be a little overkill...maybe ill start with the model.

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me that curiosity killed the cat...What she forgot to tell me was that it also discovered the cat, invented the lightbulb, and forged the Neuros

Not really... at least I do not think I can and preserve the current shadows and ambiant occulsion of both the neuros and the text. If you know a way that this can be done, I would love to hear how! (this would definatly help out with what I do as I would be able to render in parts.)

You could composite the text render on top of the product render.

Thanks for all the comments. Yes, I know that the model is innacurate, and If i find some time tonight, I will probably revise it.

Kronin: Dead on.

as for why I did the text in 3d: perfect gradients, proper shadows, nice beveling.

You rendered the text in 3D? Dude, that's why we have Photoshop.

What 3D program did you use?

Easier, yes. But where's the fun and satisfaction in easy?

Marty, great job.

Indeed, the model needs a bit of rounding, as well as the keylock and HiSi button on the right.

Thanks for the C&C.; Because it takes about 2 hours to render on my machine (2.8GHz), I will wait to change the text for when I fix up the model errors on the neuros.
