I am on the verge of purchasing some Sound Professionals in-ear binaurals. Before I do so, I wondered if anyone has used them, and what kind of noise these microphones generate with a neuros. Also, does anybody use a portable preamp with the neuros for mostly urban, fairly loud environments?

That's what interests me too. I'd really like to be able to replace my Sony PCM-M1 DAT recorder, mainly because I'm tired of those real-time optical transfers to my computer. I only hope I can expect similar sound quality with the Neuros unit (I'm using Soundman OKM-I binaurals /w battery box into the line input).

You really need an external pre amp. I have been recording in the field with Studio project C-4's > UA-5 >Neuros 44.1/16

The sound is fantastic. But without the preamp you wont get the gain you need.
