The problem with a forum as the semi-official support mechanism for a gamma product is the "semi" nature of it. It seems that only questions that are of current interest to forum participants on both the Neuros and user side get answered. Here are some that have been left unaddressed this week:

1) What is the status of the "resume from bookmark" playback feature request?

2) What happened to the 640x480 recording resolution firmware upgrade that has been promised since the Woot launch?

3) How is "shuffle" and "random" supposed to work? Do they apply only to the current directory? If you want to shuffle your entire collection, does it have to reside in a single directory?

These have not been answered yet, because there is no real good answer yet.

1) I think this feature is being worked on.
2) I am sure that this feature is also being worked on (although i agree it should already be done)
3) Im am not sure how it works yet, i was told instructions will be posted soon.

Resume from bookmark was one Feature that was important to me also.
I have asked about it and been told that its not likely to be available untill after 442V2 has been released.

This is just my opinion ,
Basically Neuros took the top 3 requested features and implemented them in the latest firmware update. They kept there promise to provide a Limited Firmware update for the current hardware 442 version.
The focus now is going to be getting the 442V2 hardware/Software combo ready for release.
We won't see anymore updates or improvements untill Version 2 has been released and then maybe they will release another limited firmware update to the current version.

It's too strong to say that there won't be any additional upgrades, but it's definately true that we're more focused on the 442v2. I'm still hopeful that we can get VGA encoding (since we already have it for the recorder 2), as far as bookmarking and getting random to work on more than a single folder, we'll have to see. Let us get with engineering and see what they have to say about it. It sounds like some folks are having trouble with units crashing and obviously that has to be the first priority.

Thanks for giving us your official response.
I hope you will post a update after you speak with your engineering team.

Alot of problems and issues have been posted to bugzilla by users but
I don't see alot of response from the engineering team letting us know what is actually being done or planned to be done in the future to correct these problems.
I feel it would be a big positive step forward if Neuros would just keep us updated on the status of problems and issues.
I think it would make Gamma testers feel more a part of the process.

if not a bookmarking feature, perhaps a setting under the menu option of a movie to "skip to --:--"(a certain time in a movie, like the 1hr 52min mark of a flick... maybe not as convenient as a bookmark but better than having to fast forward to a spot.... might be easier than adding bookmarking too, as there is nothing to have to save when power is off...

I know full bookmarking would be nice, but all I really want is when I exit a file, then open it again it would resume where I left off. It should do that between power cycles. If it only does that for a single file, that would be good enough, although remembering all files would be even better.

oh ya, I was going to mention:
  • 4) the ability to disable the 'Press play to start' banner on the video recording so that
    1. you can see the 'Now Playing' list when recording stuff on the Tivo
    2. it can be used as a passthrough TV for trips with the xbox

Personally, I can't believe this didn't come in on the Top 3. In fact I'm astounded that ANY audio requests were in the Top 3.

Well, most people bought the 442 to Record and watch videos based on the survey. The 442 is a Video Player Recorder that is also plays MP3, very much like the video iPod is an MP3 player that also plays videos. We are clearly working on the audio features as well though. As many mentioned it needs to be mroe user friendly.
