| I just bought a 2 GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo, and i need to get some use out of it, is this fairly easy to use? what are some of the bad things about it? should i get one? |

I highly recommend the MPEG4 recorder.
I use it for recreational, for taping movies, for viewing in my car with a built in TFT (no dvd required), and for commercial use.
This mightly little unit has so many applications.
Incredible price, incredible opportunities with it!!!

| I havent had it long but I'd recommend it--I can record tv shows and watch them the next day on my PSP on the commute to/from work. Comes in handy because I go to bed early since I get up so early |

| As previously mentioned, there are no problems with the 2gb Duo. The SanDisk brand seems to work well with the recorder. Since I recieved my recorder, I have been downloading to an Epson P2000. I don't have a large enough CF card so I transfer everything from the duo card to my PC then to the EPSON. Takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the material. |

I have the sandisk 2 gb pro duo and record my shows for watching as I work the graves and need my sleep. It is great.. I simply watch them on my PSP and the quality is fantastic. The filesize may make you go wow! it huge! a one hour show runs about 480 mb in 320x240 normal QVGA.. But it is recording realitime and does not have the advantage a pc does in the compresssion of the file. Now mine works great with regular cf disc.. but microdrive Cf drives.. I have yet to get (tried 3 different ones!)one of them to work. Yet seeing that you have the 2 gb pro duo.. there should be no problems. It has 6 timer recordings.. so you can catch most of your shows.. I record them watch them, then burn them to a dvd for archiving. I do believe that the 2 gb gives us 329 minutes of recording time.. quite a bit! Still despite the little quirks.. I do love the use I get out of it.. maybe firmware revisions will fix my problems as others do not seem to be having what I am going through.
Still FJ has been very enthusiastic in trying to get us some help.. which is appreciated. |

I thought about purchasing Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 but then found several complaints about a sound recording.

But from the other hand, this product has a lot of great feedbacks.

This post is about the Recorder 1 it seems. If you want to playback content recorded with the Recorder 1 on a PDA, Pocket PC or Smartphone, you need to install the free TCPMP software (www.corecodec.com). The files created with the Recorder 2 will play just fine (Video + Audio). I imagine that this user had not installed TCPMP on his PDA yet.
If you have a PSP or an iPod, both hardware supports AAC audio, and will work great with the Recorder 2 (not the recorder 1). If you want to playback content recorded with the Recorder 2 on a PDA, you will have to wait as few weeks as we are working on a bundle for PDAs, POcketPCs and Smartphones. The audio codec used by the Recorder 2 (AAC) requires a customized TCPMP software with AAC support. You can also buy softwares that support MPEG4 video and AAC audio if you do not wish to wait.

| There is a new "offshoot" of TCPMP called Sompy Media Player for PocketPC... it comes with the AAC audio plugin by default. I'm sure glad to hear that, and it also has a nice user interface. Unfortunately, the performance is much worse than TCPMP at this time, even though it is supposedly based on the same code, but at least I no longer have to tell people, "Do a Google for the medium-ethics level of the Internet, and find that old AAC plugin for TCPMP 0.60..." My guess is that a faster PocketPC would still generate decent performance with it. |

Performance. The sound was OK, but the video was not playing, I basically get the first and last image for a 15 second clip.

Wow, that's way worse than my 266 MHz iPaq 1940. I know WM5 imposes a heavy overhead, but that still sounds pretty crazy to me. On my iPaq, Sompy works at a usable level, but it's just much less "fluid" than TCPMP.
I guess it's not worth discussing anyway, though, since I don't know of any PPC on which it runs really well. |
