I have tried to convert an MP4 file to AVI with Quicktime (the 27MB MP4 file blew up to 68MB AVI). Not happy with this solution, I want to email this file. This was with video compression settings of Cinepak and low quality. WMV is not an option. I had Flip4Mac installed, and it created a WMV, but all I ended up with was 27 seconds of the 4 minute video.

Obviously, I am not experienced in this. I have found some Windows programs, but none of them are free. I've already upgraded to Quicktime Pro on my Mac, I don't want to pay for any more software. If anyone is aware of different compression settings that I can use, or a plug-in or freeware option (Windows or Mac) please send them my way.

Thanks!
Verena

Verena,
Check out this site:

I've used the Imtoo RM version with great success

Cheers

This may not really help, but it is normal for Flip4Mac to do that. You have to pay for a more advanced version to get it out of "demo" mode. You can see its Preference Pane (in System Preferences) for more info.

I hope Flip4Mac is really good someday - but right now, it isn't.
