Good morning

Anyone use them together ?

When i try to explore the network with my Neuros i can't see any......
( i can see may windows XP computer, my Windows Vista computer, but not lacie)

Can you give us more information on the Lacie device?
As I said to you before, if it can share using SMB, turn on that feature. If not, how do you connect to it using your XP system?

I'm not a tecnical man about computer, bt i have understand that:
Lacie have 5 check for protocol: 1)  TCP/IP, 2) Windows: SMB/CIFS, 3) Mac: AppleTalk/AFP v3.1, 4) FTP, 5) HTTP
I have enabled all, but it's doesnt work
About my pc system (xp and vista) it's all ok, i see the 2 personal but i don't see the Lacie server .
The personal have only the tcpip protocol installed.

Hey,
your protocol number 2 *should* work. I guess you've all these devices plugged into the same router. I do believe the OSD searches for devices with IP addresses like 192.168.*.* (usual internal IPs), so can you check the IP for your Lacie NAS?

You can do this in Windows by doing Start->Run, type "cmd" and hit enter. Then at the DOS prompt, try "ping ROUTER_NAME" where the ROUTER NAME is the exact name for the Lacie NAS in Network Places (should have no spaces), and see what info it gives you.

If not, we'll try something else. As you asked elsewhere, you can telnet into the OSD, and using this you can try to manually get the OSD to connect to your NAS. But try the above first & get back to us.

The network config is ok because the router is a router + adsl and i have upgrade the OSD by internet.

i try to put the a static IP and not  a dinamycs, but it's the same.


i'm not abe to see LACIE.

i'll try by telnel config, but i don't know witch comand use.
I try tu use help command but....... aa have understand the ather command.

In linux speak, to connect to any form of storage (whether internal harddrive, USB key or another networked computer), you use the "mount" command.

What this does is create let this new storage appear just like a typical folder in linux.

So we need to first create a folder in /media, and then tell mount to connect this folder to a folder in the Lacie NAS. For this, you need to know the Lacie's IP address.

So, telnet into the OSD. Create a folder called Lacie in /media:

We want this /media/Lacie folder to point to a folder on the Lacie NAS. **It must be a folder**

Now we'll use the mount command, it looks like this:

SERVER_IP is the Lacie's IP address
SHARED_FOLDER is a folder available on the Lacie
MOUNT_POINT is in our case "Lacie"
USERNAME is the username you use to connect to the Lacie
PASSWORD is corresponding password.

So for example, you could have something like:

The command may give you no output whatsoever, so to see if it works, change directory to /media/Lacie, and get a directory listing:
With luck, this should give you the contents of your Lacie's shared folder.

I'm no able to do it......but

what about Windows XP® Embedded  edition ?

My server has it. Do you think it'a a problem?

I try a lot and i can se my pc with XP but non my server with Windows XP® Embedded.

I'd never heard of XP Embedded edition until now.

It looks like a stripped down version of XP, which I guess one of the features remaining is filesharing. I guess you can see your server from your other XP machine?

I'm afraid, I'm not sure what's wrong. I can suggest trying different settings on your server to see if the OSD can see it. For instance try turning on NetBIOS over tcp/ip support, that could help.

I'll see what I can figure out with my old 2000 machine.
