Is it possible for anyone to come out with any firmware updates or what not that can enable such features? As far as audio recording goes, I do mean from the usual sources like tv, home theater electronics (i.e., dvd player) and output the audio into .mp3, ogg vorbis, etc...It would be nice if there was a bitrate sliding scale, like 96kbps to 320.

Is it possible (or planed for next firmware releases) to save screen captures?

I have added the feature request to bugzilla.  If you want it, please vote on it from the bug report!

I am testing  "screen capture CGI"  using ffmpeg(very old version) and cjpeg.
( ffmpeg-0.4.9-pre1.tar.gz /jpegsrc.v6b.tar.gz)
Code:
#!/bin/sh
cd /media/SD-card
echo Content-type:text/html
echo
echo "<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY>"
/usr/local/bin/recorder >/dev/null &
echo "recording<BR>"
sleep 5
killall recorder
sleep 1
echo "converting to jpeg<BR>"
./ffmpeg -i osd.asf -an -ss 2 -t 0.1 -r 0.1 -y cap%d.ppm >/dev/null
./cjpeg cap1.ppm >./webroot/capture.jpg
echo "<IMG SRC=/capture.jpg></BODY></HTML>"
I cannot attach ffmpeg here, because it is very large file(2MB!)

Nice work tn, you should ask on the IRC for some webspace to upload this!

It does seem a bit mad that you need the whole ffmpeg binary just to extract a screenshot tho. Still, this is handy to have. How is performance?
Note that tn's tool extracts a single frame from a presaved video file, it does not intercept the OSD's input and sends it to file.

Extracting  a single frame from asf file is OK (takes less than few seconds)
But otherwise performance of ffmpeg is not so good.
From 1min video file (asf),
extracting  audio track = about 1min,transcoding to vcd(mpeg1) = about 2 or 3min.
Also as far as I have tried, the latest ffmpeg-svn does not work on OSD.

I would love to have audio recording on the OSD also. I have requested an account on Bugzilla, but the Bugzilla request linked above is for the screen capture capability. What about the audio recorder capability? I vote for that.

Thanks!

Before posting to Bugzilla, wanted to get some feedback on options that are of interest to our application recording church audio, interested in doing so in combination with still images rather than video stream.

Since the Neuros captures video concurrently, it would seem that creating a set of "still" images either from the video stream or accessible on local storage with the audio is possible as a "Simple Matter of Programming", no extra hardware needed. Feature feedback:

? How about on-screen menu driven controls to create "tracks" ?

? What about ability to advance a "filmstrip" that is a still captured with the audio stream ?
   - with option for different output formats (MPEG-4, of course, but what about VCD, QT, what else?)

? What about merging/fading audio, possible to accept other audio streams through the USB port?

Thanks for feedback here before I weigh in on bugzilla and pursue some crude options myself!
