Future OSD s beyond 1.0 surely won't have a CF slot. Either way, we will certainly support the OSD 1.0 for an extended period, there is no end of life plan at all for the OSD, it will co-exist with other, presumably more expensive models in the line. The whole "free CF card" program is a strong statement that we're making to illustrate that we're very much continuing to aggressively develop for the OSD 1.0 and we're sparing no expense to make sure that all the early folks are 100% included.
Hi all, I'm reading a bunch of posts about how some don't wish to lose there CF slot, but it seems as though the new version won't have one anyway. So essentially its a decision of whether you want to stay current with the firmware releases either by buying a new OCD or utilizing the existing one, they will both be missing a CF slot. I personally think Neuros is doing an awesome job and i applaud them. I'm all for the open development and on top of that the respect and dedication to there customers is unparalleled. For these reasons i will certainly be supporting them as much as i can. Great job guys!

What I know of the development of the OSD from version 1.0 to version 1.5 is that 1.5 will have more flash mem and also have a hard drive. Currently the OSD uses the 'IDE' interface for the CF slot but the OSD 1.5 will use this IDE interface for the hard drive. So either way versions 1.0 and 1.5 will not have a CF slot. But eventually OSD 1.0 users could have partitions on the CF card or any of the other available interfaces. Secondly if people who buy the OSD 1.5 want a CF slot or to use SSD then the interface could easily be modified to use either of those two options, obviously at the expense of the hard drive. This is how I understand it.

I accidentally hit the Edit button on the Wiki, and it accused me of "inserting nonsense/gibberish into pages." What the heck?? I have never made any changes to any Wiki, anywhere. If this is some kind of default message, it needs to be reworded.

Do i understand this correctly? Will the new OSD have a hard drive in it? I hope not as one of the most appealing things to me is the fact all current storage requires no moving parts. This makes it perfect for in vehicle recording where you get large amounts of vibrations as well as other active settings.

I see from the wiki ( http://wiki.neurostechnology.com/index.php/Transition_to_Permanent_Storage) >> So Neuros plans to give all existing, U.S., OSD owners a free CF card as permanent storage! Well, that's just peachy, but am I take this to mean that my (Irish) Neuros is going to be unsupported? So, - Am I right? Am I going to be ignore by Neuros support? Do I have to pony up for my own CF card?
- If so, by the time it becomes an issue, will Neuros be able to certify the CF cards it will support?
Thanks.

I only use the CF slot for recording in mobile and in areas considered, "not your typical recording situation".
SD cards don't have the memory capacity that CF cards do. (yet)
USB thumbdrives are a dime a dozen now.
QT has a large developer community and years of support.
I think it was a wise choice and a huge thumbs up to whomever suggested it and whomever made the descision.

No, we will not ignore you because you are located in Europe. If you need a CF card from us, like anyone else, all you will have to do is ask and we will send you one. Thanks.
