I recently replaced the battery and I have a relatively new charging unit,
but suddenly my N II stopped accepting a charge - although it does light up
when the USB cable is plugged in.
Plugging in the charger, the unit just stays off.
The power receptacle has been acting up a bit from time to time and
I'm thinking that it is the problem.

It seems to be  held to the board by four solder joints which
would be a simple matter to desolder and replace.

My question is, can I buy the part somewhere?

Any advice?

Thanks
Mr M.

I would think any local electronics store (think old-school Radio Shack, with the bins 'o parts, not Best Buy) would have an acceptable replacement part... Just make sure that the solder points line up correctly or that you re-wire as necessary.

The plug is a Radio Shack Type "H", so even though a lot of them have stopped carrying components, I would try there first.

Also, replacing that piece is not really necessary, unless its completely broken off.  But if the solder points became loose, then just add some more solder and that should do the trick.
