I live in South Korea, and would like to be able to use downloaded subtitle files to help me study (while enjoying what I'm watching).  I've got it to work on my laptop, but it would be fantastic if I could do the same using the OSD and my TV.  Has there been any talk about .srt or .smi files being supported on the OSD?

I did a search on the forum, but didn't find anything.  Any response is appreciated!

Hey,
this is a long overdue feature that many have been waiting for. But I don't think it Neuros will implement it until well into 2008. It is possible though, just requires some developer time.

I would have thought this was a basic feature for any media player.  Many of the movies I watch require subtitles - we wanted to watch "Pan's Labarynth" a couple of nights ago and couldn't use the OSD because of this problem.  Can't wait for this to be done.

This might not apply for you, but when I'm encoding my DVDs with Handbrake, I can choose to have the sub-titles displayed (meaning, they are always on-screen, no way to turn them off).

If you're getting movies some other way, well, yes, hopefully sometime the OSD will have sub-title file functionality.

Yes, you are right.  When it is an option (and I have the time) this is what I do.
