OK, so it is "powered by Neuros"; does that mean existing owners of Neuros OSD can use/access the WhereverTV Global Interactive Program Guide?

No CF slot, so I'm guessing this is one of the OSD 1.5's we've been hearing about.

I would presume the WhereverTV firmware should work on any Arizona-capable OSD, but I'm certainly not going to be the one to risk bricking my OSD.  Tongue

Perhaps someone on the inside could give a bit more info on that.

I emailed feedback@wherever.tv the following:

I already own a Neuros OSD. Can I use/access WhereverTV's Global
Interactive Program Guide and the international TV channel content?

and this is their response:

We are working on this. But for now, you would have to replace the Neuros
firmware with the WhereverTV firmware.  That would disable most OSD
functions.

We plan on working with Neuros to integrate our application into their
firmware sometime in the near future. But, if you'd like to try out our
firmware in the meantime, I will need you to register on our site and then
email me your username and MAC Address from the OSD.

I would only recommend doing this if you know how to revert back to Neuros
firmware using the emergency installation procedure - which you would need
to do to get the Neuros firmware back onto the OSD once you were done trying
out WhereverTV.

Sincerely,
Rob

Nice idea, but I don't think they will sell too many unfortunately. IMO, most of the channels people wouldn't watch on a regular basis. I was about to send this product's web page to a few friends that are from other countries (UK, India, Italy, etc...) but the only channels useful are news channels. $200 just to see the news. eh... I'll read it on the internet.

But hey.. They compiled a great list of online streams.

Aha, so this is the OSD 1.5 I've been hearing about!

More must be learned about this device, and how we could bodge some of the functionality onto our existing OSDs. The biggest qualm yet is that our OSD cannot really do this yet. Adding streaming playback of video shouldn't be impossible!

I am guessing the source for their playback app is closed?

Anyone fancy trying out their firmware?

Can anyone find their firmware? If it's available somewhere, we can take it apart.

It's not open source, and today it doesn't co-exist as an app on the OSD, they wanted to just get it working and then get it to work so that it could co-exist on the OSD as an application.  There are also licensing issues to be worked through with Qt since it's closed as well. Please hold tight, we are working on this.
