Xbox Media Center is Free Open souce appliciation.

"XBMC is a media center suite that was originally designed for the original Xbox.
But over the last few years XBMC has taken on a life of its own and has been ported to run on OS X and Linux."

XBMC is the best media player that I know of.
It has been developed for years been stable and having good development team keeping developing it on in linux environment.
It would be nice to have it integrated to the OSD2.
It has loads of different plugins to integrate with as well as nice skins.

Idea to be there as default, but of cource would be nice even if it would be a plugin to OSD2.
Well I am not sure what is the best way to go, but thought to through the bone to you and the OSD2 community Smiley.

This is certainly one option. Another option is for a MythTV based system. Both are open source and have their fans.

I AGREE...

I don't know too much about how possible this would be, but I agree that the XBMC is the best media software I have come across. With a bit of added functionality, i.e. record TV etc, it would be the ideal media software for the OSD2.0 - XBMC on a hardware platform that was quite, small and looks slick would be fantastic. I think there is even a BBC iPlayer script for XBMC which is great for those of us in the UK!
