Nobody I know runs their audio to the tv, unless it's a bedroom or garage tv.

I do, and then run the audio-out from the TV to my receiver over TOSLINK.  That way I don't have to change my audio source on my receiver, my TV does it for me when I change video source.

Hmmm...I'm surprised you don't use an auto switcher. They're cheap and add bling to the rack.

One of the reasons I got the TV was because of the 3 HDMI inputs and Optical AND Digital Coax audio out.

I've got an 8-way manual switcher on my TV in the basement, but that's frustrating because it doesn't do any video conversion, so I'm still switching inputs on the TV.

Yeah, it sucks that no switchers can do conversion. In my case, I'm using composite video / 2 channel audio for everything until a better solution comes along. Too bad the tv can't auto switch to the active signal. Like if you're watching the satbox, then you play something on HDMI1 from a bluray source it would prioritize it, or better yet, let the customer assign the auto switching priority.

The biggest headache is keeping legacy devices in the mix, while adding highdef, and an autoswitching tv would solve that.

My TV does something like that.

If I press "Play" on the HD-DVD player, it sends a control signal to the TV over HDMI, and the TV changes sources.  It works with certain cable boxes (not any my cable company uses, though) and such, too.  Not sure if it's Toshiba specific or not, though...

And I can understand switchers not converting Component to Composite or vice-versa, but S-Video to Composite is easy.  You'd think they could at least do that.

I never could find one to convert RF(Coax) to RCA(composite) or vice versa either.

Much more difficult, because RF to RCA requires a tuner, and RCA to RF requires a modulator.
