Title: Available resolution settings in gamma software?
Post by: Rara on September 27, 2006, 11:24:48 AM
I've been playing around w/ my gamma OSD for the last few days, and I've only been able to record in a 320x240 resolution.  The quality settings function, but I'm unable to open the "Advanced" settings.

I've tried it with both the firmware as shipped, and updated to the latest 3.20 . . . that was posted the other day.

Am I doing something wrong?  Or is this simply part of the MP4 file constructor not working yet?

I would really like to start doing some testing at 640x480, and at D1 as well.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Advanced opened for me - but i don't recall the resolution options.

By the way - the recording mode says: on, off, automatic.

What the hell does this do?

I don't konw how can you record 320x240 resolution.can you tell me the detail? Because there are still a bug that OSD only can record 640x480 authough change the Reolution as QVGA in Advanced setting.

The recording mode says: on, off, automatic.
if the recording mode is  'On' in  Video recorder setting, the Audio recoder mode will become Off automatically.if record ,it will record video but not audio.
if the recording mode is  'Off' in  Video recorder setting, the Audio recoder mode will become On automatically.if record ,it will record audio but not video.
The Audio recoding mode(on/off) is opposite to the video recording mode.
Automatic:
When OSD  has no  input signal, it won’t record automatically.
Once OSD  has input signal, it will record automatically.after input signal is off,it will stop recording automatically.
the Automatic recording function hasn't achieved in current version(3.20-)

Well, I'm not entirely clear on what was happening, but as near as I can tell, I had either an early, or incomplete firmware installed.  When I would try to update, it would update the version number in the properties window, but not actually update the firmware.  It would drop out and reboot, and never having performed a successful update, I didn't know any better.

I finally was able to force an update using the /newpackage/r3.upk method described by mgao in his blog.

This appears to have cleared up any unique issues I was having.

kelly,

Do you have any idea when the resloution issues will be sorted out?  I am very much looking forward to being able to record in 720x480.

Obviously the above is pretty confusing.  If anyone has suggestions, please post. (here or bugzilla):

Michael any thoughts as to what we can expect on this on the next release?

Recording resolution support has been completed with release 3.20-0.20+.

However, recording to full D1 (704x480) can only be supported up to 28fps, and this is not included in the release. Currently NTSC records up to 672x448 @30fps.
