Title: Problem with firmware upgrade
Post by: Freaksed on September 28, 2006, 11:36:22 PM
I just got the OSD and I'm trying to update the firmware.  I formatted a 1 Gig CF card, FAT32, put the file on and tried to run it on the OSD.  It chokes for a second, reboots and says   "Check package"...  "Sorry... Package error!"  I've tried a bunch of times, same result.

Would you like to recopy the file and try again?

create a new folder on your memory card called "newpackage" and put the .upk file in there and rename it r3.upk

so you end up with this   /newpackage/r3.upk

then plug the card in and boot up the OSD, it should update automatically and completely.  I had the same issue with my unit.

Thanks Rara, it worked now.  They should add that to the official directions.

Freaksed, glad to hear it worked!  but I can't take credit for it, i got it from MGao's blog when he posted the latest firmware update.  I had the exact same issue, and had to go hunting for the answer.

I followed Rara's instructions for the firmware upgrade with an SD card and it worked.

Unfortunately, I rebooted with the SD card still in and the OSD went through the upgrade cycle again. After completing the upgrade again, now the OSD won't boot.

I see the splash screen for about 10 seconds, the splash screen refreshes, and then nothing. Any similiar experiences/suggestions?

Hi, wqwert!
What is your OSD version before you upgrade the firmware? You can get the version info. via "Settings"-->"Properties".

Now you can try to  create a new folder on your other memory card(such as CF card\MMC card etc.) called "newpackage" and put the .upk file in there and rename it r3.upk,then insert the memory card and re-plug in power.

Please to try again,thanks!
