Title: Ethernet/remote access status
Post by: softbatch on October 02, 2006, 02:42:22 AM
I am trying to find some information on the current status and a rough timeline on the remote accessibility of the Neuros OSD
At the moment it only sounds like it supports sneakernet.

Are the ethernet drivers done yet, TCP/IP?
Any services....

Basically I want to be able to pull or push the media off and control the neuros OSD remotely.
I did not see this in the goals for October. I may have over looked it though.

okay I found out that ethernet/tcp/ip is working from a newbie dev howto manual.

But I am trying to get an idea of what is going under the Network support topic on the functional spec list.

well, as you suggest it already partially works today, but I'd say on a "ordinary user" level this feature is a good month away at least from being "officially supported."

Running Windows XP using Ttermpro I could access the OSD using TCIP, Telnet, Port #23; 192.168.1.100. I could copy OSD files to a mounted device but I could not mount a new device. You can get around the directorys and copy files from one mounted device to another, but because the OSD is a read only device you can not edit any files on the unit. I have not had any luck copying files from the Windows drives through the Lan to a mounted device on the OSD, or accessing the Lan through the OSD.
