Title: JTAG and OSD Post by: hwboy4 on October 13, 2006, 06:15:00 PM I'm anxiously awaiting my OSD pre-ordered from ThinkGeeks and have been reading about building the OSD software from source. One of the caveats is that my changes to the software I may render my OSD inoperable. The result is that I would have to send it back to Neuros to be reprogrammed using JTAG.
What is needed to be able to use JTAG? Other devices I have used required a special cable. Is this the case for the OSD? Details would be appreciated. Title: Re: JTAG and OSD Post by: caven on October 15, 2006, 09:47:37 PM Hi, hwboy4
You need place a JTAG header in J3 place if you need use JTAG to reprogram. Title: Re: JTAG and OSD Post by: sean weng on October 15, 2006, 10:00:58 PM More important, you need one JTAG adapter to program.

With respect to the JTAG cable, I am wondering if a standard USB one like these (https://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?Prod=JTAG-USB&Nav1=Products&Nav2=Cables)? Also what app is there for JTAG programming in Linux? I came across one but I don't remember its name. Title: Re: JTAG and OSD Post by: terry qiu on October 21, 2006, 08:27:57 AM I'm not sure why you need to use the JTAG, your OSD's bootloader crashed? you can't see anything from TV?
If you want to use the JTAG to re-burn the OSD: Fisrt you need a emulator, and maybe need a adapter connect the emulator to the OSD. Second you need a code composer(such as ti CCS) which can drive the emulator. then you can do what you want. Title: Re: JTAG and OSD Post by: AsGF2MX on October 23, 2006, 09:50:41 AM No, it is not one USB interface, it is 14-dip JATG interface. So it's the TI one? I'm not too familiar with the pin assignments and am a little clueless as to where I can get the cable. I suppose I won't be really needing it but I might get one just in case...we'll see; I still don't have my OSD yet. |
