Title: recording and network questions
Post by: thomilla on October 29, 2006, 07:02:39 AM
Hi,

i get my OSD from thinkgeek a few days ago and tried the recording features yesterday.
I know there are bugs in sync betwen audio and video, so i skip this question.

My setup looks so:
Plugged my tv in a/v out and my dvd player in a/v in. When i boot up the OSD i saw the picture from the dvd player in the background, but unfortunately its monochrome and the picture is not in the center of the screen. The bottom of the picture is at the head of the OSD screen.
Same conduct when recording.

My question: Is this a well-known OSD bug or is something weird with my setup?

Thanks,
Thomas

It's not a recording questions. It's  PAL and NTSC issue.Do you check the tv's video standards is PAL or NTSC,and DVD's video standards  is PAL or NTSC? you should set the signal in and out as  same video standands.  Also you should set :Setting-->General--->TV Output as same video standands. After set the three as same, then reboot OSD,your question will be fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I switched the osd tv output to pal and then back to ntsc and now it works.

I have a second problem. I connect the osd with serial cable and network cable to my pc. Serial cable works great, but network thems to be broken. When i turn on my osd the network will be initialised with the information stored in the 'ip' variable set with setenv. I can ping these ip at the begin of the boot process of the osd,  but while booting the network stops working.

Any ideas?

Do you change the parameter in Network Setting? If you havn't change the parameter,OSD will use static ip(192.168.1.100).But if you want to use DHCP,first, you should plug in network cable, then boot up OSD,lastly change the IP Addr Type as DHCP,network will work.

I set the ip information staticly. Cause this did not seem to work, i set the ip information with uboot as kernel parameter with setenv. But i forget to set the same ip in the network settings of the osd. I think this could be the problem. I will try to set the same ip over uboot and the the network settings. I will post a reply when my tests are done.

Ok, i configured the network settings of the osd to dhcp, connected it to my soho router and now everything works fine. I tried to mount an nfs share of my pc and it works great.

Thanks again.
