To add to this question, will the OSD work as a powered host, for external drives and devices that get their power from the port?

But theoretically, if a company like yahoo or virgin wanted to compile an application that would let subscribers access their subscription music, that application wouldn't have to be open, would it?

I just bought the beta from thinkgeek, looking forward to hacking on it.

I got the idea with the Sonos-Rhapsody announcement ( http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/09/14/sonos/ ) that integration of the OSD with some subscription music service would be pretty cool (2million+ song jukebox without a harddrive).  Is this out of the question because of DRM issues?
