1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Neuros+battery on: June 08, 2006, 06:40:29 AM
anyone know what current the Neuros requires?  Those packs look good but wonder how many minutes they would run a Neuros for?

Any word on when this will be fixed?!

Could not agree more Pete.

Its an advertised feature of the player that does not work, since I bought two Neuros II's, I have posted here, and placed it as a bug on bugzilla, and still no official date on when it will be fixed.

Kinda rubbed salt in when a firmware update came out, and a fix was not included.

One of my units just started doing exactly the same - anyone any ideas before I send it back?

I'm 100% with you on this one.

Have ordered another product,  once it arrives will be returning my two Neuros 2's unless the advertised feature is working by then.  I really cannot recomend this product to my friends,  as we need the auto record feature to be working, or its not fit for the purpose we intended it for.

Neat as that might be its not a workaround IMHO.

You still have to press a couple of buttons to get the NR2 to record.

Just applying power to a bullet cam to start recording, is completly different, and its great to hear the guys are looking at fixing this feature of the NR2.

Thanks, looks promising

Sadly that feature does not work, its been reported as a bug for a little while now, I have not seen any comments from the Neuros guys as to when/if it will be fixed

Sad

I then take the CF card out of the Neuros (Kingston elite pro 1GB), and transfer it to either of my pcs, both running XP, with latest drivers for the card readers.
It won't recognise I have a card in the drive, in fact the drive itself dissapears from the my computer menu at times. If I eject the card from the reader it then pops up an error message (something 'like delayed write failed').

Dave, what you describe is exactly what I do, and works fine for me.

Perhaps try formatting the CF card in your PC, and copy some files from the PC to it.
Then insert the CF card in the Recorder, and use the menus in the Recorder to see if the files show up.

Thanks so much for the update.

Is the problem fixed with auto record when it detects a video source?

Or is there a list of fixes/enhancements somewhere?

Not sure if this will help or just confuse the issue more.

However I have a 2.2gb Microdrive that works fine in my Neuros II, but does not work in various digital cameras and other devices I tried it in.

Thanks, that's a great find, be interested in how you get on.  The reviewer mentions with the 5v regulator, pulling more than 1250mA the voltage starts to drop a little.  I have not measured the Recorder II, but I suspect with my plan to use two of them I may hit trouble.

So any other information/products you found from your research would be interesting.

Any ideas for a battery to power two recorder 2's for 5 hours?

This battery, with a few minor modifications provides 10 amp hours (very long use)for any Neuros.
Add a very efficient 5 volt regulator (low q current)and solder the + wire to the center and you have a very very long lasting external battery supply.
Comes complete with the battery charger.

Gosh, was just looking at Li-Ion batteries on that same website.

Wonder if anyone knows if you could risk plugging 7.4volts into the Neuros?

I don't know if I have the skill or knowledge to work out what I need to make a 5 volt regulator Sad
