Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Editing Neuros Video Clips

Thanks for the heads up on squared5's mpeg streamclip, FJ! I downloaded it and it really does a great job for simple clipping of videos. Just want the doctor ordered ----- follow up on 9/27/2006 mpeg streamclip delivers the simple clipping but don't expect to play back the editted mp4 file from the r2. the audio/video will not be synchronized. the editted file will play back within the mpeg streamclip just fine. and there does appear to be a slight out-of-sync when using freeware QT 7 for play back. i've tried all the "fix stream" options in the software to no avail.

I've been doing some research into the editing of mp4 files so my information is hearsay & speculative. What I've gathered is that QuickTime 7.x PRO can let you do some basic editing (like chopping out commercials) and when you are done, choose EXPORT (not SAVE) as well as choose PassThrough options in wizards afterwards. This, my understanding goes, will keep conversion routines out of the process. I would appreciate it if someone that has QuickTime 7 PRO to verify this information. Thank you.

I'm not sure if the moderators are going to appreciate it if we post PSP only related issues here. Having said that, if you were using Homebrew on your PSP, that may explain why yours got bricked with the 2.81 upgrade. Also, it was my understanding that the 2.81 upgrade would make the new 4G/8G MS Duo work. Prior to 2.81 I didn't think they would work on the PSP. This is a vague recollection and may not hold any truth to it. I personally use 2G cards but wouldn't mind going to 4G when the price drops.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Extended Power On operation

My VCR has the typical two choices of a/v output: RG59 coaxial used in the ANT. IN/OUT pass through (IN is important, OUT is just bad form to run your a/v signal through the tuners that much) and 1 set of RCA composite output. If my VCR had 2 sets of RCA composite outputs I surely would have done as you had suggested.
Author "bwhitlat" just posted a new thread on "signal pass through when r2 powered off". This seems to me to be the best solution to my questions about extended power on operations. And it would make the r2 more "VCR like". That and the ability to use the pause key during Record mode.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Extended Power On operation

I have a general operational question to ask everyone here. I currently use my r2 between my VCR and TV (like I suspect most people do.) Sometimes I record & playback from only my VCR. Sometimes I use the VCR to set the channel and record the program on my r2. Using my r2 in this fashion has me running the unit continuously on and selected to the "record/full screen" mode so I can always see the a/v from my VCR. Is this a good idea to run the unit like this 24X7?

I have yet to upgrade my PSP f/w from 2.80 to 2.81 and reading out on the psp forums it sounds as though its mostly security patch stuff but I did also read the 2 of the 3 folders under the MSROOT/ directory have been removed from the format memory stick function. Was that your experience? Does that change interfere with the r2 recording on freshly formatted MS DUO? Just wondering...

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Video Quality

I bought my nr2 three weeks ago and have noticed the same video picture qualities issues expressed here on this thread. Things like the Neuros splash-screen is skewed to right, recording VGA superfine for TV playback is no way near DVD quality (my VCR w/HighQuality tape record/playback is better than the nr2 on my TV) and the included cables w/miniplug connectors are very, very susceptible to interference.
Having said all that, I'm still very happy with the nr2 because I didn't buy it for use with my 27" TV. I have a JVC DVR and VCR for doing that. I bought it for use with my PSP and to that end, I very satisfied with its performance. I consider the nr2 captures for audio/video playback on my PSP to be outstanding.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Feedback on R2 purchase

I'm just reporting back on some interesting findings. I purchased the R2 ($149) from the company website on 7/18. I found out about the MPEG4 R2 through google search because I was looking for something to capture video content onto Memory Stick Duo cards for my newly acquired PSP. The R2 is the only game in town if you're looking to stay away from TV capture cards/software. However, this isn't my first purchase into digital recording from a AV input source. My Mustek PVR-A1 records ASF format files on SD/MMC card and includes a 2.5" color TFT screen. Watching TV programs on it was passable but playback from widescreen DVD recordings was painfully tiny and ultimately worthless.
I must have read a good majority of the postings here and want to thank anyone who contributed with questions & answers as well as just passing along knowledge. Because of the postings I knew well before receiving my UPS packages that I would need to update the firmware for the R2 & PSP before I started playing about. My R2 arrived with v02.00.0013 already loaded (I don't even think that's downloadable yet) so I only needed to update my PSP from 2.01 to 2.71 and using my newly purchased SanDisk MS PRO Duo 2GB I can initally report that everything works as advertised.
I also offer a suggestion for those experiencing video quality issues that moving the tiny little box as far away from the TV/VCR (or any suspect interference source) that the cables will allow should improve the signal quality being recorded.
