1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: OSD with External USB drive on: October 22, 2006, 06:14:45 PM
You might try this link in my posting
http://forums.neurostechnology.com/smf/index.php?topic=7474.0
I have not tried the latest firmware released on the 19th (3.20-0.20.upk  ) however, I have not heard of anyone able to mount the external drive. The latest firmware fixed USB issues so I will report out after I get it downloaded.

2  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Compatible memory devices (sucesses & failures in firmware 3.20-0.20) on: October 01, 2006, 01:53:10 AM
I have outlined my success and failures with diffent media. Perhaps others will post their results as well as any recommendations.  I formatted all devices with FAT32 format.  Some of this information is mirrored in current BUGZILLA items.

Memory designed to work with the OSD includes:
Compact Flash, Microdrives, Secure Digital, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo, Multimedia Cards
In my experience with the OSD, the memory needs to be placed into the device after a full boot. The device does not seem to recognize memory during the boot process.
If anyone has ideas for a script to force manual memory mounting (vice automounting) I would appreciate any input.

Here are my results.  Out of the box OSD, no upgrade:

-Compact Flash: worked (this is the device I used to upgrade my system to firmware version osd-3.20-0.20)
-USB: Did not work  (hard drives, pen drives)
-Official Sony PSP memory, Memory Stick Pro Duo / Memory Stick Pro Duo adaptor: Did not work

After upgrade to osd-3.20-0.18:

-Compact Flash(256MB): Worked. System would recognize CF whether started with CF in during boot or placed into system after boot
-USB (1 & 2 GB pen drive): Worked intermittently. Never worked if the OSD was booted with the device inserted.  Worked, intermittently, if device inserted after full boot.   Once the devices were recognized they worked without fail.  Sometimes the devices were recognized, sometimes not. ?
-USB (external hard drives. Western Digital powered & Western Digital unpowered notebook drive). Neither were ever recognized.
Official Sony PSP memory, Memory Stick Pro Duo / Memory Stick Pro Duo adaptor (2GB): Memory  was never recognized.
SANDISK  SD Card (2GB): Recognized incorrectly as an MMC card; Neuros would not save to either SD card or MMC card.

I look forward to any other results and good ideas, I was thinking perhaps a small script could be written (similar to restarting PCMIA services /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart  or a mounting script #mnt /media/usb) that would re-initialize external memory.  Any other ideas here? Johnny Mac

3  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: File Browser: reading from USB on: September 28, 2006, 05:02:07 PM
I can answer my own question here.
I was not able to upgrade using a USB key or USB hard drive. I used a SD card and the upgrade proceeded with no problems.  After the upgrade, the USB key was recognized and could read the files.  Unfortunately, the player would not display images or short videos from the USB device.
4  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / File Browser: reading from USB on: September 26, 2006, 11:16:10 PM
Greetings,
I opened the Neuros today and decided to immediately upgrade.

I downloaded the file (osd-3.18-0.13.upk) to both a portable usb flash key and powered usb drive. Neither is recognized by the Neuros. When I navigate to the file explorer and then to USB, the system will pause and the "choke" and go to a blue screen. By pressing any button, the screen returns, however, there is no data displayed. I formatted the usb devices as FAT32.

Any thoughts?
John
