1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Use as Media Gateway on: October 23, 2006, 05:54:24 PM
Well, this puts me in quite a quandry... hoping I used the word in the right context, just had half a bottle of some great Peterson Merlot</shameless plug>.  I have been looking for an economical expandable alternative to building a full PVR PC. I even pulled out my old Ipaq to use with one system, then I saw this, and thought it could be expanded to do anything I could imagine. Seems like the betas were snatched up very fast and there seemed to be lots of hype for a few days, but I am really hoping it has not died down, I hope people realize that if they make some effective addons and what not that they will be instant heroes once this thing takes off. I just hope it will take off soon, me personally, I am waiting for the EPG with XMLTV import option and the winsha browse options, then I will grab onefaster than you can say 'he.....' whoops, got it that fast, you couldn't even say it. anyway, hope to hear of some new options soon, I am really amped for a great PVR alternative...

I noticed on the 21st it was said about a month later there would be support for windows (SMB) shares. Not making a nuisance of myself, but is this still a few days off? My media files are on a windows machine and would hate to have to move them to my linux machine to be able to use them... 500 gigs is too much to move over. Any updates on this?

Your not ignorant because you are unfamiliar with TTX. It's this crazy thing they have here in Swedena dn a few other european countries. You push a button on the remote and the screen shows news in text. It's Text TV. y can check the programming guide for the day, read the news sports, whatever you want, something like 700 pages of text a day. crazy and I'm not into it, but my girl uses it every day, just wondering if the otion would be there.

As for Zap-it, it is not XMLTV, it was created so that XMLTV would be obsolete, but the only problem is Zap-it only works in the US and canada. For listings in other countries, the standard is still XMLTV. I am not an expert, but I know a bit about it. It's just XML witha bit of html, it goes to a website and grabs all the listing information.

I know that this is a work in progress and that is what appeals to me so much, but you think they would document as much as possible since it is just that. And if possible, offer one of those rewards for a very in depth review and manual, along with a more descriptive website. I am one of those folks that has to see in depth information before I'll ever pay $200 for something. Does that make me cheap?

I just want a scheduling option so I can get Swedish listings and XMLTV is the only way out here in the frozen tundra.

I've been looking at the neuros to finish off my home theater system.

I have another question though, does anyone have any info yet regarding a scheduler for TV shows and channels kinda like media portal or even Tivo? I know it was made for it's recording abilities, but what about a scheduler?

Another related question is will it be a standard XMLTV input, I live in a frozen wasteland, you guys may know it as Sweden and I have to use a special program to import my TV schedules, O2 grabber, just wanted to know if I would be able to manage what I watch, not only what I record and would I be able to schedule it hours or days in advance?

This is my best option short of a media computer as my PVR and I was just wondering if it had this capability, and the XMLTV capability or would I have to write my own for the XMLTV?

This thing looks great but including the website and the Wiki, there is still way too many wuestions of what is included? Why don't they include more detailed information regarding it's capabilities? watch TV from anywhere, it's not descriptive enough, how? what format? Can you use the OSD to record these, or does it just server them? Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but this could be a little more descriptive...

And this may be a useless question, how about TTX, think that anyone will be writing in support for that? (I don't expect 95% of you to be familiar with TTX)
5  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Pictures of the UI on: September 29, 2006, 08:02:40 AM
OK, I have seen numerous pictures or this thing in a box, on a desk, even in a woman's cleavage, but does anyone have a picture of the thing working? I want to see the onscreen menu, I want to see what is looks like once it is actually hooked up and turned on. I've been hoping for something like this product for some time. Seems like the best Idea yet, not just a PVR, but more and the ability to add other functions, but I want to see what it looks like and if it will need hours and hours of work to make it look good as for the onscreen menu?
