Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Arg.....OSD keeps rebooting

Been meaning to post here but I've been a little busy with other things. I recieved my OSD hooked it up to the TV and all was well. Having said that, I can't hog the living room TV for obvious reasons so I took the OSD back to my room and connected it. What I noticed is that it seems to be an issue if the device was powered on before the TV (or without a TV connection) . I'm not sure why but I am using the 20 firmware and I think this has to do with the PAL/NTSC auto-detection? Perhaps something else...I need to finish off a few things and then get round to redoing my ubuntu install (hello edgy )then starting on this. Also noticed that despite having reset the router and left the OSD off the network for ages, the DHCP address seems to be wrong; I initially did not reserve any IP but I do now and my leases have always been for 12 hrs but for some reason the OSD seems to be forcing the old IP on (not sure about the cause of the issue exactly but my router will hopefully be replaced one of these days).

No, it is not one USB interface, it is 14-dip JATG interface.
So it's the TI one? I'm not too familiar with the pin assignments and am a little clueless as to where I can get the cable. I suppose I won't be really needing it but I might get one just in case...we'll see; I still don't have my OSD yet.

This is a question I've been wanting to ask as I too have an order with ThinkGeek...to bad that it's still "New" and there's no info from neither Neuros nor ThinkGeek. With respect to the JTAG cable, I am wondering if a standard USB one like these? Also what app is there for JTAG programming in Linux? I came across one but I don't remember its name.

Hi,AsGF2MX. 1. 2 minutes speed up after upgrade, this issue happen in 3.20-0.16 pre-version, I guess this is a mini SW bug. Have be fixed now.
2.For add NTP, as Joe explain, on the to-do list.
Was wondering if it was software or hardware, thanks for the info. Interesting info on the NTP. Hope I can get my OSD soon so that I can start messing with it

Well, I suppose the NTP package needs to be small enough to fit within the EEPROM and also you shouldn't overload the NTP server (now where is that google list?) Also, out of curiosity, is there any circuit diagram or proper details on the implementation of the RTC?

Caven, could you explain the reason for the 2 minute speed up? Also with the 5 minute over a 9 day period, does the OSD not use any form of NTP to sync the clock? If not, shouldn't it be a quick fix to add a cron job (or whatever you use for scheduling) along with cron or some other scheduler (there is one isn't there?)

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Codec for ASF files?
|
on: October 08, 2006, 07:39:16 AM

Hi,
So I was able to successfully record a sample video and played it back through the OSD, but I can't manage to play it back on my computer. I'm having a hard time finding the codec which is apparently "MP4S" or "Microsoft ISO MPEG-4 Video v1.0 (MP4S)". Any pointers? Hopefully I won't ever have to deal with ASF again after AVI support is improved, but in the meantime...
Thanks, tonicboy
ASF seems to occur in various places so I doubt you can just skip it but being a container format, the data inside it can use a variety of codecs - MPEG1/2/4 , etc. I'm not sure on MP4 formats but quicktime can play it, not sure about real player. Anything can play it if you use FFDSHOW (same thing is used by VLC but internally).

I can't say much on this as I don't have an OSD yet (coming soon according JB ) but it sounds similar to the problem I had with my Linksys NSLU2 - lack of an RTC so something has to sync the time using NTP. I've set my NSLU2 to sync once every 15 mins (I know it's too quick but it's not big traffic so I just left it) but it used to do it once every hour. Is there any such thing in the OSD's Linux? Are you blocking such traffic at your firewall?
