1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / White Vertical Line and Background Noise on: November 04, 2006, 07:39:52 AM
After 2 frustrating weeks in which I have had problems with the Scart leads provided, then the set-up of the system I purchased a SCART switch to get the bloody thing to work with my satellite decoder.  Having now got it working with the decoder I get poor quality sound and white vertical lines that scroll across the screen.  I am no technopobe but feel that the product is not that easy to configure unless you refer to the forums and spend days playing around with all of the options.

Why bundle in the SCART connectors when they don't work ?

The hassle of setting this recorder up is a nightmare and the support has been patchy. It was another forum member that pointed me towards the SCART switch.

Can anyone help? I am about to throw this overpriced gadget in the bin.

Why can't you just plug it in and away you go Huh?

I have a similar setup using a sky digibox.

Components
Digibox with 2 x scart & audio on rca
DVD recorder (treat DVD player) 2x scart & audio on optical
VCR 2 x scart & rca audio
TV 2 x scart & aux video i/p (not used)

The Digibox TV output connects directly to a tv scart (set to RGB for best quality)

The Digibox decoder output connects to the DVD recorder, R2 and VCR via a scart switch box. This allows me to select the recording device but the VCR will soon be ditched.

The outputs from the DVD recorder, R2 and VCR are connected to another scart selector box which is connected to the second TV scart socket - also set to RGB.

Normal connections are Digibox to DVD recorder input and DVD recorder output to TV.

This system allows me to easily select inputs & outputs for recording as well as playback. All audio connections are connected to my AV amp.

Do not connect any equipment permanently to the R2 output. From my observations the signal is degraded and the audio level is lowered.

You mention a "serial port" for video, sorry but there is no such thing !.

If you do not have scart connections on your skybox then you can achieve the same thing using composite video (RCA) connections. You may find it easier to draw a diagram of all your connections to see how it will work.

Hope some of this may be of use, if not please post exactly what connections you do have on each piece of equipment ad we can have another go !.

Cheers Dongle. I mean it has an S-Video port with the the red/white audio on the digibox. Will gve it a go.

Thanks,

Hank

You mean that you have no RCA output on your SKy receiver? I am not the best to help out  on this as I have never used a Sky receiver, but is there a possibility to connect you receiver to your DVD player or a VCR and have the recorder connected to the latter?

Thanks for the feedback. I just discovered that there is a hidden panel on mt TV which pops out so I now have the Neuros menu, only problem now is the SKY satellite reciever input. It has 3 ports, a red and white port and an s-video port an I can't get anything at all.

Should I buy a SCART box (with AV output) which can hook the DVD and Satelltite receiver into then hook to TV via the Neuros?

I have had numerous problems trying to get my new player set-up. Eventually I discovered that it works only when connecting to the I connect the cables directly to the DVD and TV using the AV connections to my ols Sony portable TV.

Problem that I have is on my SKY reciever I have two Audio outputs but a serial port for video so I cannot connect all connections. Likewise on my TV I have audio (red\white) and 2 scart connections but no video input.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

5  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Menu scrolling across screen and very faint picture on: October 21, 2006, 03:36:22 AM
I am connecting the external aerial to a video player then connecting to to the TV. I am then connecting the input from the video and and output to the TV using the SCART connectors provided. When I hit the PAL button the menu appear s but the menu scrolls across in a 'html-marquee' style.

Has anyone had this problem?
