1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: need a tuner on: November 02, 2006, 08:11:33 PM
if you google 'stand alone tv tuner' you will find several. I'm actually also thinking to get one. Before you return you should try the latest firmware, 3.25-0.23, I found this to be quite an improvement in all aspects

Well, the hardware contains custom chips so I think the power will be there. That a lot of stuff is not working yet, however, is very true.

3  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: SD card -> crash, cf out of sync on: October 30, 2006, 03:09:39 PM
Kelly, yes, the sync problems were with AVI files. Where do I find version 3.21-0.21? The normal firmware update link still seems to point to .020

Another problem I noticed (this is MP4 with MP3) recording is that the framerate recorded doesn't always correspond with what is set, i.e. recording from an NTSC source seems to record at 30 fps although I set 24 fps. Further, I've noticed that the resolution settings seem to have no or very little effect on the quality of the recorded video, i.e. it's very blocky.
4  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Is recording to .avi supposed to work ? on: October 27, 2006, 06:09:15 PM
I can't make this work. playback on osd is about double speed while the sound is ok, in vlc the sound is also ok but  the video is much too slow ... I can only get half-decent results with .mp4 and there only with mp3, aac doesn't work properly either.

any comments?

I also notice that even using s-vhs and using the best video settings, the quality is not very high compared to .avi encoded from dvds.

I can't reproduce these crashs .. maybe the card wasn't inserted right ...

better yet, that same video played back on VLC, plays in slow-motion while the sound is still ok on my mac.
7  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Audio/Video Sync on: October 27, 2006, 02:09:38 PM
I have no idea what the problem is but I have a similar but not the same problem: Recording in AVI (MPEG4,MP3), my video plays at about twice the speed while the audio is fine ...

Sure, it's a Panasonic SD 512MB Pro High Speed, I use this one for photography mostly.

Any idea about the out-of-sync issue? the video recorded on the CF card plays back too fast while the audio goes at the right speed. At the end of the video clip, the picture freezes while the audio finishes, then it starts all over with the next saved clip ...

Let me add here that I used that card to update the firmware and I can play an avi that I encoded for my palm from it just fine. So the problem is somewhere with the recording or possibly writting. I also tried various different framerates, quality settings etc. -> no difference.
9  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / SD card -> crash, cf out of sync on: October 26, 2006, 11:12:51 PM
Just got the neuros osd today and started to play around. couldn't record at all with an SD card (that shows up as MMC on the file browser), crashed the osd every time.  I then tried with a microdrive which doesn't crash the machine and seems to work but the video and the audio are out of sync ... any tips on how I get basic recording to work?

Thanks, Chris
