Right now there is a wide variety of PDA's with many capabilities, including MP3 playing capabilities. But they all have a limit on their storage, though. Most PDA's have 32 to 256 MB storage space built in, at most.

What I suggest is to build a PDA with the vast storage capabilities that the Neuros have... a big step forward for the PDA industry. In order to support this PDA funcionality, a touch screen (color, if it wanted to be successful) would have to be adopted. Perhaps PalmSource or even the Windows Pocket PC's would help (or supply) the OS. The one downside is that the maximum storage capacity of this PDA-Neuros is that the maximum storage would probably be lower than the current Neuros. But then again, PDA's are already far below, and despite this fact, people are still going for them. To sum it up, giving the Neuros PDA capabilities would expand the market and the productivity of the Neuros would improve even more.

It supports linux. If you are interested in that kind of thing, check out www.Handtops.com, they are my favorite site on uPCs.

it looks very sweet, but geez is it expensive, I wonder if you're stuck with winXP or if you can easily stick linux or something else on it.

Hello again,
I admit that I was looking a bit into the future when I brought this whole topic up. But I just saw something a whole new product by OQO that says putting this into the Neuros isn't too far away. It's a palm sized computer (with Windows XP) running at 1 GHz and other things surprisingly packed in.
Their site is at: Http://www.OQO.com PC Magazine also has an article on it. So it's possible (It is rather pricey though).

Well, if you're talking something as low end (I use the term loosely) as the palm OS then yes, more than 1GB is a bit overkill, unless you're also using it for portable storage, but there are a few PDAs with operating systems that are a little more robust like that Sharp Zaurus, it actually runs on linux which means theoretically you could sit there and compile and create all kinds of really nice applications making really usefull. Pretty much the only thing that stops me from buying it is a lack of space on it. Personally, I really don't have a desire to combine a phone with a pda and have it also be a mass storage/mp3 player, but I would like the pda/mass storage/mp3 player (drool)

I totally disagree here.

Producing a single, mighty, super-gadget might be cool. If I had the money, I would certainly buy a CellNeurosPalmBuletoothShaverClock. But the fact is that most people don't, and a product like that simply won't sell. I honestly believe that's why Apple hasn't done it.

Besides, why in the world would you ever need more than 1 gB of space an a PDA, except for movies and audio? I think the market is happy with having two solutions for two problems.

I've been very dissapointed with the PDA market myself. Before I discovered Neuros, I emailed Apple about making an IPOD with a Palm OS and email capability. With all the hard drive space, it should be easy to do. The reason I emailed Apple, is because I felt the IPOD was lacking brains - not many applications, but had memory to use, and PDAs available lacked brawn - lots of memory space.

Hey, with $600 blackberry devices on the market already, what's the big deal.. Besides, all technology comes down in price after a while anyway.

Personally, I feel the Neuros should have email capability and a PDA application as well. I mean, otherwise it's just an expensive walkman.

Neuros and iPod both have much smaller, much lower quality screens than any PDA, and you'd need the better screen.

That's a higher cost.

Why one of the PDA people hasn't glued a hard disk and big battery to the thing, I don't know.

I'd like to see a Treo killer too, but it'd have to be priced right, and that's hard.

Why don't you make it a cell phone in addition?
You'll have a Treo/PocketPC killer, besides an iPod killer.

Talking seriously... the market will go that way.. but not for now, or at least not for my pocket.
How much can that gadget cost? A thousand bucks?
