Posted - 03/02/2006 : 07:55:44 AM I've been looking everywhere this month for a solution for my band's live performance needs. Basically i need a stable robust device to play backing tracks for musical performances.
However i want a device to play backing tracks that is/has:
- Multitracking (1 song is made up of 4 layered audio channels, ie. drums, bass, synth, noise, like a 4 track recorder)
- 4 outputs (1 for each channel) using 1/4 inch or XLR balanced connections
- 19 inch rackmountable (like dual CD-DJ rigs or pro minidisc recorders)
- has optical in/out to connect the computer to transfer tracks in/out of the device
- has a range of performance programming functions like CUE, program playlist order, maybe even pitch independant tempo playback and EQ
Nothing exists that does this job. you can get $3500 Fostex digital multitrack rack machines... http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/products/d824_mk2.shtml
but they are not designed for what i amm talking about.
Please consider. In the meantime im off to try to find a pro minidisc recorder on ebay. :(
