- Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head - If you haven't heard this album go out and get it now... amazing stuff.

- Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - This album was just recently re-released. This along with The Wall are must haves for any Pink Floyd fan.

- Evanescence - Fallen - I got turned on to this band by their appearence on the DareDevil soundtrack. Something new that didn't suck.

- Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine, Downward Spiral - I like Trent's older stuff.

- Dixie Chicks - Home - I am not a country fan in any way, but this is closer to bluegrass in my mind. I know that recently they have been blasted in the news due to their comments about the war, but I still like this album.

- Tori Amos - Scarlet's Walk - I have been a fan of Tori since Little Earthquakes. Combine this with Under the Pink and Little Earthquakes and you have hours of amazing music.

- Cake - any - I have all of the albums and I can't really say which is best. If I was hard pressed I would say Fashion Nugget.

- Mary Prankster - Blue Skies Over Dundalk, Roulette Girl - Hard to find local group. Funny lyrics.

- Assorted classics - Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac - from various greatest hits albums that I have floating around my collection.

You might like Blindside and Chavelle too then. Possibly 12 Stones or Project 86 if you don't object to a more explicit Christian message in the lyrics.

So far I've added all my old stuff (I haven't had reason to purchase CD's). I'm pleased with AC/DC and The Ramones then I throw in some Kinston Trio (sort of like dropping into reverse and 150 mph ;-) ). I'm thinking of getting some Kiss, Metalica, Judas Preist, Pink Floyd, some of what "I find llamas amazing" likes except I prefer the Beatle's White Album. Then some Garth Brooks, Blue Oyster Cult, some of my father's old 50's Country & Western, Big Band, Brian Setzer, Dead Kennedy's, and some other stuff. My Boss said I have no taste in music I like everything. Not quite true, I hate Lawerence Welk, Genocide and some of the gangster rap.

One thing I did find out, the song "Nowhere To Run" by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas has this one really annoying tamberine that just totally out of sync with the song. I never heard it on my CD. Weird.

One other thing, how well do you think the Neuros will stand up to Punk Polka? I'd like to see Lawernce Welk do that! And yes I'm older but not dead and I don't think 'modern' music is just noise. Though I'd wish they'd leave Disco dead! :-)

"K", that just reminded me. I wish my sister had a Neuros back when she played Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album to death for 1 month straight! I now love the album but it took 15 years before I would listen to it. Unfortunately it would not have helped with the Bay City Rollers and "Saturday Night"! :-)

I have to agree that "A rush of blood to the head" is a great album. Didn't see that one coming...

Good stuff.

Other than a playlist of mine, I've been listening to Flogging Molly: Drunkin Lullabies (in honor of St. Patty's day). I've also been rediscovering some of my older CDs since getting my Neuros. I have been playing quite a bit of Einsturzende Neubauten, Chameleons UK, Church, Death Cult and Crass. In fact, one thing I have enjoyed most about my Neuros is that it's caused me to rediscover how much I like music.

Mmm Hmm, I'm listening, mmm hmm

Hehehe, somebody's been playing Battlefield: Vietnam...

Great game BTW. I play it, and also BF:1942 Desert Combat, as [Chameleon].

NOFX - War on Errorism
Songs like "The Irrationality of Rationality", "Idiots Are Taking Over" and "Re-gaining Unconsciousness" have a real ring of truth to them. And I'm sure everyone at DI could use a week at "Anarchy Camp"...

and on the flipside...

Pure Ella - The Very Best of Ella Fitzgerald
This lady has class and a sense of humor. In "They Can't Take That Away From Me" she does a really cool duet with Louie Armstrong.

weird huh?

Old Evanesence stuff (Pre-Fallen. Local CD store carries Origins and EP bootlegs, and the rest my ex-GF was able to find on Kazaa / BT. And before anyone complains, the band has stated several times in interviews to feel free to download anything pre-Fallen.)

Dream Theater
AC/DC Remasters
Mad Apple
James Gang / Dr. Joe Walsh
Nightwish
Iron Maiden
Queensryche (Well, if my Queensryche directory hadn't mysteriously disappeared when I installed iTunes... and of course I'm too lazy to re-rip it.)
Project Majestic Mix

Uhm... that's about all I can think of. Suggestions are always welcome. ;)

night

You probably want to check out Symphony X. The Divine Wings of Tragedy is my favorite album, but V is more "accesible." The new album, The Oddyssey is pretty good too (and the epic 20 some minute long title track rocks as an encore at 12:30 a.m. when you have a math test at 8:45 in the morning later that day :) ). They are kind of like a Power Metal version of Dream Theater. John Romero is a god on the guitar.

I would suggest staying away from post-Mindcrime Queensr˙che because Empire isn't really a good followup to that amazing album and it simply gets worse from there (the 80s stuff is really good though...walk with me let's walk in shaaaadooowwwss).

If you like Maiden, then definetely check out Bruce Dickinson's solo work, especially The Chemical Wedding. It is like Iron Maiden but not nearly as repetetive (I think the chorus gets a bit old on the 37th repetition, or maybe it is the 38th...). His solo work is far better than Blaze era Maiden and a bit better than the last two Maiden albums.

If you like anything speed metally, then check out Helloween and Gamma Ray. Especially Gamma Ray; even if you don't like speed metal much No World Order would probably become one of your favorite albums after a listen or two.

Your post has reminded me to buy a few Nightwish albums...it's funny how a thread started by nacks (a guy I know in the Real World (tm) oddly enough) a year ago is still alive :)

(I miss my Neuros. It'll be back from USB 2.0 Upgrade Land on Tuesday.)

Besides just pressing "Play" and letting the Neuros random-shuffle all the tracks (and that gets entertainingly strange!) I've been listening to a bunch of 80's pop/new wave, and early electronica.

Right this moment, Art of Noise is burbling along cheerfully at me.

Recent things show Bran Van 3000, Deee-lite, Johnny Cash, Perry & Kingsley (the one they haven't re-released on CD), Wendy Carlos, Fat Boy Slim, White Town, Steinski (more stuff hard to find on CD), Barenaked Ladies, the Beatles, and the Wipeout XL soundtrack.

Okay, so I can't say I particularly favor any particular genre. It's easier to say I generally avoid (but not entierly) opera and C&W.;

I also have a warm spot in my heart for novelty records. I've got a bunch of the Dr. Demento collections, and I think all of Wierd Al, even the singles like, "The Day Santa Went Crazy (Extra Gory Version)".

This week it's been mostly whole albums, but that's because I've been at home and could do so easily.

As soon as I can get a bigger disc, I'll be able to carry it all with me, mostly to confuse and horrify people with. That's a wonderful goal. (No, 20G wasn't enough.)

I'm also pondering expensive headphones, to go with my other expensive headphones. I'd like a pair that you don't actually have to screw in to your head. =)

More than you wanted to know, I suspect. But you asked! Sort of.

Nacks - if you're a fan of Dark Side Of The Moon, check out the Easy Star All Star's "Dub Side Of The Moon" - a glorious dubbed out tribute to the Floyd classic. The sort of thing you'll either love or hate. :)

Also, track yourself down a copy of the Dark Side of the Rainbow video - Wizard Of Oz with DSotM as the soundtrack. Very trippy ****. :)

Cheers,
-y
