I was in a friends garage, playing poker with a bunch of friends. I had my NeurosII playing through their radio, and I had plugged it in to save battery. Well, some drunk idiot (it might have been me) tripped over the cord and sent my NII flying onto the concrete from the workbench (about 4.5 feet high). The brain and battery actually separated, and it put a significant scratch in the casing. Well, I put it back together, thinking that something must be wrong, what with the drive spinnning as it took the hit, but it fired right up. I was pretty impressed.

Just want to say that almost the same happened to me just now.
I had the Neuros II (80 GB Backpack) attached to PC and Power (using a european digital switching power supply @ 8.6V, since I live in Germany) and, standing up and turning around, my foot catched both cables and the Neuros fell to the floor, about 3-4 feet deep. The USB cable was put out, but the Power cable stayed in its place. Nothing happened to the Neuros itself, even though with the detaching of the USB cable the HD started spinning because the Neuros re-read the database. I also had supposed at least a head crash, but it seems the built-in HD is a very good one. The Unit stayed on and alive, only the USB pins were bent a bit. Nothing that cannot be fixed. I was also quite impressed. The Neuros isn't the smallest or smartest MP3/OGG player on the market, but it's a good one, and very robust.

I did this once. I was out at a friend's place... I usually transport my neuros in a small cd case - it allows me to basically drop it off a building without hurting it. Well, a friend opened the case without knowing the neuros was in there, and it dropped 4 feet or so onto concrete. I yelled but it hit the ground and the backpack/player seperated. Put it back together... and it was good!
