I figured I should say that I actually like my MPEG-4 Recorder.
I did get really poor quality when recording off a Sony D8 camcorder, which made me somewhat disappointed (since it was the first thing I tried). But I connected a DVD player, and I LOVE the results.
My videos even look pretty good on a Monitor at 1024x768. Using TCPMP allows me to play them perfectly on my Palm Tungsten C even at SuperFine settings. I'm sure it would still look pretty dang good (on my Palm) on a lower setting too.
I'm not really sure what the difference ended up being, since the camcorder is a pretty good one.
I love being able to throw TV shows from my DVDs onto an SD card and watch them on my Palm Pilot. Comes in quite handy when flying.
I got mine from the original product launch on Woot.com.
The one thing I need to look into is why the recorded sound is so quiet. (I did turn up the volume to about 95% on the Recorder.) |

Yea Id also like to say that this is a great buy. It works really well as a record. I had trouble at first trying to figure out how to set it up to record. Ok, maybe i skimmed through the manuel, but still. Finally i figured you had to send it through a dvd player or vcr or in my case i used my ps2. Luckily i have a switch which changes the video channel between 3 other sources so i was able to get my ps2 and the mpg4 recorder on the same screen after like an hour!
But when i did get it working, i loved the results. the picture was very clear and the sound was just as good. i then viewed the file on psp (i used the smaller memory stick) and the video was just as great as the UMD videos that are for sale.
The only knock i had on the product was that it wasnt able to recognize the sony memory stick. i have a 512mb sony stick duo and it did not recognize therefore i did not get to record and keep anything on there. i tested it with the sandisk and it worked fine, but it wasnt mine.
Overall it is a great product and is very helpful because i love watching movies on the go on my psp and this would help me greatly. Again, if the memory stick by sony was able to be used, it would be amazing.

BTW, the first post above is about the recorder 1, the second one is about the recorder 2. Just wanted to clarify to avoid confusion.
