Dear Members
Neuros has long wanted to find a way to reward its most active members. After many talks over what could be done in addition to mugs, tee-shirts, Baseball caps, rebates, etc, we came out to the conclusion that cash is the way to go. Since we are not a deep-pocketed company, you can imagine that there is a catch. We are not about to send your Franklin bills any time soon for you Birthday. Would love to, but ain’t going to happen .
As you know, we’ve had a reseller program for a while, but what we’re looking for here is a way that developers, etc could just have an affiliate link on their website to get commissions rather than having to set up e-commerce capability. It seems like a step up from the source forge “donate to this project.”
Sooo, we had to be creative (well sort of), and recently started to look into affiliate programs for a few reasons: 1. We want to reward our most active members (many of you have been better sales rep that professional people we have hired in the past) 2. It fits right in with our community based approach and the word of mouth path we have taken a while ago
We looked into quite a few programs before finding what we see as the right fit for us, and our members (current and future). We are about to sign up with a local company called Shareasale (www.shareasale.com), but would like to get some feedback from you before we finalize the deal.
Here is how it would work: Neuros would sign up as a merchant , design banners that would be put by affiliates on their websites, and add a piece of code on our webcart to track sales (this code adds a cookie to the browser of the person you referred to us).
You, affiliate, would have to sign up with Shareasale (at no cost, quick and easy), and add Neuros’ banner on your website to direct potential new members, and hopefully buyers, to Neuros pages. Every time a person visiting your site clicks our banner and ends up buying an item from us, you get a commission on the sale (yet to be determined). By signing with Shareasale, you would also be able to refer people to other merchants as well (they currently have 1400 of them).
All you need is a website, and keep doing what you have been doing for a while: promote Neuros. You finally will get more than our gratitude for it.
How does that sound folks?
Johan

I wish people didn't need a website to be part of the program, but it remains the easiest and less intrusive way to implement an affiliate program. Emails are out of the question because of spamming.
Many people are actually doing well with these affiliate programs as you are not limited to promoting one product or one company only.
In the meantine, we would do our best to help anybody who is promoting Neuros by sending them supporting materials and giving them tips on how to manage to increase traffic on their sites.
Finally, the success of such a program will very much depend on how active the affiliates are willing to be, but after seeing all the posts and comments on our forum, I am confident we have to the ideal community to make this happen.

I think it is a great idea. I love Neuros products. I already use the recorder for wildlife recording in the bush, a bullet cam and a solar panel. I plan on creating a website just for custom hardware modifications to Neuros products. A recreational PVR. Also to give tips on how to troubleshoot the product, develop a few cool projects with it and the best for last, put up some demo videos taken from a Neuros (skydiving, scuba diving) Imagination and techie experience is the limit!!!

The program is now up and running. You can find more info here http://www.neurostechnology.com/is/affiliate.asp
In a nutshell, all you need to do is register for the program (it is free and will take only a minute or two), and download one of our banner on your site. You will earn a 5% commission for the referral on purchases made on our webstore.
If you have any questions and comments, feel free to email me.
