If you purchased your Recorder 1 as part of the Gamma program, Feb 9th from Woot, you can trade it up for free (but you still need to pay shipping). Otherwise there is a $20 upgrade fee, plus shipping.
It also states that you need to include a copy of your receipt. Presumably to determine whether or not you were part of the Gamma program or that you purchased your Recorder 1 new. If you didn't purchase it new, and can't prove that you did, then you probably aren't eligible for an upgrade.

P.S. The upgrade page also states that if you were a member of the Gamma program and already took a free upgrade from Recorder 1 v1.0 to v1.1 that you are not eligible for a free upgrade to Recorder 2. But you should still be eligible for a paid upgrade.

Does anyone have the packaging that they want to sell? I have the unit, the remote, the cables, the power adapter and the manuals; however, I do not have the box and styrofoam the device came in so I cannot take advantage of the upgrade program.
