I imported my cd collection using itunes, so most of my digital music is in M4a format. When I put the music files into my 442 they don't show up under the audio player. It doesn't say unsupportable or anything like that. The folders are there, the files are not. Under file management I can find the actual music files, but they still do not play. Can this be fixed without converting my entire collection? If not, what is the best way to convert all of my files?

Thats not a supported Audio file on the 442.
The only audio formats currently supported are MP3/ADPCM/WMA/AAC-LC |

m4a files are AAC-LC, but apparently the container format is not supported.
I imagine like most things we won't see support until 442v2 comes out. |

This is what I've been told by iTunes users that have non-iPod MP3 players: burn CDs of your iTunes music and then rip the tracks from the CDs to MP3 or WMA format. |

That's far from easy. If the m4a's have DRM on them, there's a program for that. I know what it is but the name just escapes me right now. It's four letters. Hrmmmmm....
If they don't, just right click on the songs and hit convert to MP3 from inside iTunes.

I've looked over the shoulders of a couple of iTunes users (I'm not one of them), and when they right-click on a track the only "Convert" option available is "to AAC". Do you have a special plug-in installed or something that lets you convert tracks to MP3? |

| Sometimes, I have been able to use itunes to reconvert the files back into MP3, just right click the file and see if you can reconvert the file. |
