Just unpacked my Neuros 1. It's not recognizing my new PNY 2 Gig SD Card. Not recognizing a used 1 Gig PNY Card either. Can't format either one. Is this a known issue with these cards?

I'm not sure if the Neuros even has formatting capabilities. Most SD cards come formatted, and it is not necessary to reformat them.
Is it possible you are in "CF" mode and you just forgot to push the "Storage" button? (Although it may seem like the Neuros should auto-detect which storage card is inserted, it becomes apparent why the button is necessary once you realize that you could insert both card types at once.)
Do the cards work in anything else? (PDA, camera, card reader...)
Sometimes my N1 confuses itself and just blinks "Space:" forever and doesn't respond to any buttons, even though the clock continues to update. A clever way to reset it without pulling the plug is simply to hit the switch into "Card Reader" mode, and then switch back. If your issue is crash-like in nature, this might be worth a try. |

Thanks... I tried setting the Card to SD in the menu, but it seems to remain stuck in CF mode. I'll see if the re-start option works, but a full re-boot keeps it in CF mode, it seems. Both the SD cards are readable in cameras, so there are no issues with the cards.

Which menu are you talking about? Did you push the actual "Storage" button? You should be able to enter both CF and SD modes freely, even if there is no media inserted (though it won't normally do much good).

I have noticed that unless you power up with the SD card inserted it will not recognize it. So unplug the power, insert SD card and plug in power. It should work. |

OK, I've tried hitting the Storage button, but it still says "No Device". Even powering it up with the SD card in does not change the status. Still says "No Device". Any further thoughts. Can't get it to record or anything.

Well, do you have problem with record only? Remember that SD card has write protection switch on it.

Hmm... did you check the "lock" tab on the card(s) to make sure it is switched off?

if you have some files on the card, I would back it up and format teh card with your PC and try it again. I have used PNY cards with the Recorder 1 (not 1GB or 2GB though) and it worked fine. Let us know if that works out.

Thanks for your reply. Still not working. The lock is switched off on the card. The card is new, no files on it. The 1 Gig card I tried is an older PNY card, but it's not seeing that either.

Even after formatting the cards? Did you get to try to recorder with other cards than PNY? If you can, try another brand (CF or SD). If that still does not work, call us at 1 866 5 NEUROS.

I'll exchange the PNY for a 2 Gig SanDisk at J&R; today and see if that makes a difference. Any known issues with SD cards of that size from SanDisk?

The sandisk 1Gb card should be working fine. I recall one customer reporting that he had an issue with a 2GB sandisk card with the Recorder 1. I would ask other users on the forum.

Finally got some time, after a move, to try to get the Recorder 1 working again. No luck on the 2G SanDisk SD card. It's is not recognizing. it. However, I tried a 1Gig PNY and it is working fine now. Now I just have to figure out the audio, as it's not working in my MSFT-enabled phone. Recall other topics on the boards about this issue
