Hey!

I just got the Neuros 442 and I love it ... I think.

I'm having a few problems with data transfer to and from my PC, but I think that's a PC problem since I also had problems with the 60g Video iPod (I went through 3 of them before getting the 442. It's probably due to the enormous amount of peripherials I have setup on my PC via the USB ports). I solved that by just sending files to my wife's PC via our home network and copying from her PC to the 442. Aside from the slow speed [She doesn't have 2.0 ports], it works like a dream. I am having one problem though...

How much battery time are we supposed to get during copying of files and how long does a full charge take? When I recieved it the battery was reading at slightly over half full. I brought it up to a full charge (which took around 4 hours) and spent a few hours converting, copying, testing, etc (around 3 hours with the device actually being on) and the battery is reading in one bar in the red. Aren't we supposed to get 9 hours audio and 5 hours video? Should I run this battery down and let it shut itself off before I charge again? I am planning on buying spare batteries soon, but I was hopin this one would at least last the stated 2 years.

Any thoughts?

well when transferring files your using the Hard Drive more than if you playing a song. The battery life is weird on the 442 so when recording and transferring files you should always consider using the charger...

With Lithium Ion batteries i don't think they have a memory so it wouldn't be necessary to empty and then recharge it.

Since you are using the 442 for alot of write operations, you will
use up the battery. If you are doing so at home, why not use the
adaptor.
We have used ours continuously throughout a day with it plugged in.
The 442 has worked longer than 9 hours for us. If you keep it in
a cool place, like a CamelBak, it lasts much longer.

Thanx. I've made it a policy to have the device plugged in whenever i do data transfers now.
