I am debating getting a Neuros MP3 player, but before I purchase it i want to be sure i can get a car charger for it. Does anyone know where i can purchase one? Also people who have them, what are some up sides and down sides to them? |

Actually, I've found one or two around where I live for next to nothing at garage sales (it seems Radio Shack no longer makes them). 9v, positive tip, 800mAh if I remember correctly (Joe could verify this). Down side: slow transfers with included software and only one nifty game (their version of Tetris). Up Side: huge honking hard drive, decent play times between charging, open sourced, well documented, works with almost anything USB supported, makes all my coworkers jealous (I know of at least one that went out and got one after me) and it can broadcast on a bunch of FM channels, not just 3 or 4... BUILT IN. =) I've had mine for a few months now and can't wait to see what else Joe and his crew have lined up...
One does not mess with the affairs of others who have home computer networks that rival ISP's. |

Almost any off the shelf multi-volt car adapter should work woth these, set your mind at ease along that line.
As for the player here is my take on it:
Pros: 44.1k Wav line in recording - big plus Built in mic FM Transmitter - transmitts on any channel FM receiver FM Recording Big HD USB 2.0 Backpack can be used as an external 80GB HD without power adapter Support for ogg and wav formats
Cons: Internal Battery - not-swapable A bit big and clunky clumsy OS DSP based - cannot get rockbox os OS is clumsy - searching for files is rough playlists are not easily managed Music library could be better aranged have to delete files one by one, can't delete complete albums without connecting to a computer. detachable "brain" does not work as an independant player
summary - Would I buy one again? Yes, but only because I use the recording funtion and the FM transmitter all the time. Also, since I deal with a lot of wav files, the 80 GB HD is a must. If I did not need these three features, I definately would not buy this player. It is more of a geek thing that the average user. It is not fun to opperate. The OS is clunky and slow. In short, a great recorder, but rather lousy player. |
