Title: I need to upgrade LINK OS
Post by: manthony121 on January 08, 2012, 12:02:12 am
I've had my LINK for a few years now.  It has Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) as the base OS.  That version is no longer being updated by Ubuntu, so I would like to upgrade to 10.04 LTS.

'lshw' shows a ASUSTeK M3N78-VM Mobo, BIOS ver 1309 (09/11/2009) by American Megatrends Inc, AMD Sempron 140 CPU, and nVidia GeFore 8200 display.

I use Ubuntu for my home computer system, so I have no fear of upgrading to the generic Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS from a CD or USB stick.  Are there any "tweaks" specific to the LINK that would be wiped out if I did that?  Does Neuros provide a 32 bit 10.04 image I can use?

You have the nVidia GeForce video chip, so your LINK is either a v1.1 or v1.2 hardware (difference is in the fans).

Hardware info and image download links for the LINK is here:  http://wiki.neurostechnology.com/index.php/Neuros_LINK_technical_specifications

The 1.5.x images are based on Ubuntu 10.04.  Instructions for restoring it (simply dd to the thumb drive) are here: http://wiki.neurostechnology.com/index.php/Restoring_Neuros_LINK_v1.1
