Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: new firmware, now my internet connection is screwed up :(
|

Unfortunately despite being able to search for a video and it displaying the results I can't play a video, the 'loading player' box appears but never actually stops and I have have to reset the OSD.
More alarmingly though I can't update to the new Beta firmware either. The Neuros detects that the new firmware is 3.33-1.44 but when I try to download it, it doesn't work. Same thing again - 'downloading...' but it doesn't actually look like its doing anything and then after a couple of minutes it suggests theres an internet connection problem.
Not sure what could be the problem here - its obviously able to use the connection because it detects new firmware being available. Also it searches youtube, but it just can't actually play a video.
I had this same problem and fixed it the same way. Thanks for the post. The new search tools are AWESOME!!!

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Transfer files to usb hosted hard drive?

Can anyone tell me how to transfer files from a computer on my network directly to a hard drive connected to my OSD?
I've got the OSD connected to my router and I can watch videos over the network that are stored on any computer on the network. I've also used the OSD's copy-and-paste function. Shouldn't it be a simple task to drag a file from folder to folder on any pc on the network?
I'm no networking expert. I've poked around in WinXP's network panels to see if the OSD is somehow available, but I don't see anything obvious to which to connect.

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Joost

If Joost won't play with the OSD, maybe VeohTV will. It's Open Source. VeohTV Beta, subtly billed as a "Joost Killer", is actually an amazing development in online video viewing. The impetus for the Veoh TV service is characterized by a Veoh slogan Dmitry related during the webinar: “Video Lives All Over the Web.” This simple truth is demonstrated in the new VeohTV service’s approach to aggregating and utilizing all types of video. VeohTV allows users access to virtually any video with unparalleled functionality, quality and control from a very advanced viewing interface. http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/veohtv_launches.php

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Photo Viewer

What no .png .xcf? Is this a Linux compatible device? I'm a web graphics professional and there are very rare occasions that I need to use a PNG. I've never even heard of XCF. I can't think of a good reason that Neuros would support either of them.

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Lip Sync problem

Yes, we have found this issue in Xiamen office and reported it to the bugzilla, our developer is also investigating it. It seems to be a CF card issue. I'm using the 8GB Seagate Photo Microdrive that Joe recommended and I get the synch problem with every recording I make. I just tested recording on my Lacie 500GB hard drive and there is no synch issue. If you fast forward and hit play, it takes a second to recover, but the A/V synchs up just fine.

My Motorola cable modem is like that too. The weight of the coaxial is enough to make it flop around. I should correct myself here: It isn't so much the weight of the cable as it is the rigidity of it. Coax is such a thick, rigid cable that it doesn't flex against the weight of my modem, so it falls over all the time. Regarding the OSD, your results may vary depending on the flexibility of your cables and what do-dads you have plugged into it. My network cable is pretty rigid and that port is just above the midline of the device. If I look at it funny, bonk! It falls over. From a manufacturer's viewpoint, I'd add some weight to the stand rather than the device itself (and maybe I'll do that myself... Is that considered a hack?).

The stand is a bit unstable. I've knocked it down several times. I don't quite understand why manufacturers build devices that can't stand freely when cables are plugged into them. My Motorola cable modem is like that too. The weight of the coaxial is enough to make it flop around. Yeah, there are bigger fish to fry with improving the OSD, and it looks really sweet! But I think there is such a thing as "too light" or "too small" when it comes to the industrial design of devices.

Does sync correct itself in other cases that people are discussing here?
I recorded Heroes last night onto my 8GB Seagate CF and the audio was out of synch within minutes of straight play. What's more, the video seemed to hiccup forward occasionally. It was pretty much unwatchable (so yes, I missed the finale). It never corrected itself.

Enter this as a bug with details on the content: does it happen for all content or only content recorded with the OSD. The more details you can give us, the easier it will be for us to fix it.
Thanks I will do a proper bug report on this, but I wanted to mention that it's a simple one hour recording to CF card from cable using the superfine quality setting.
